Holden's thread has a TON of great info in it, so I try to link it across when I can!
I will update my list: *UNDER CONSTRUCTION*
1. Goodfellas - Yes, I still have this over Taxi Driver, because I still like it just a tad more.
2. Taxi Driver - One of the best films ever made, period. I learn a little more about cinema each time I watch it.
3. Raging Bull - This is probably technically his best work, and a bona fide masterpiece.
4. Alice Doesn't Live here Anymore. Not one you see on these lists, but i lived about a mile from the giant cow skull building seen in this flick, and the road scenes with Mom and son mirror my own childhood in an almost frighteningly similar way.
5. Mean Streets - This thing is was way ahead of its time. Still a couple weird cuts that bother me, but who am I to judge?
6. Gangs of New York - This is a tour de force of fantastic film direction and editing. This one gets a lot of crap, and none of the derisive comments make much sense to me.
Bah - I have to run an errand. Will finish my post when I return!
