2021 Film Challenge

Some really great films here, and after checking out Colt Is My Passport, I do believe, like with a few previous films from your list, I'll be adding that one to mine.
The beauty of it was that I had been waiting for a good "gangster" film that I HAVEN'T seen, and this so wonderfully fits the bill.
THANK YOU!
The Criterion's Japanese Noir collection has quite a few that might fit the bill.

If you’re looking for a good Yakuza (don’t call us gangsters) film, might I suggest Battles Without Honor and Humanity? Specifically the first one, although the second one is decent as well.
These are all worthwhile, but I would strongly recommend spacing them out as they felt very repetitive when I watched them all in a week. Lots of scenes of guys yelling in Hawaiian shirts and gunning each other down to make the same points repeatedly for seven plus hours.

The trick is not minding

Yeah, That’s exactly what I’m doing. I watched the first two last week, will probably watch another this coming week. So far, after watching the first two, it doesn’t seem repetitive, but of course......it’s only the first two.

I have a vision...
watch 10 films from the same director

-WILLIAM ASHER-

1. The 27th Day (1957)
2. The Shadow on the Window (1957)
3. Johnny Cool (1963)
4. Beach Party (1963)
5. Muscle Beach Party (1964)
6. Bikini Beach (1964)
7. Beach Blanket Bingo (1965)
8. How To Stuff A Wild Bikini (1965)
9. Fireball 500 (1966)
10. Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker (1982)

@Captain Terror How come you chose Asher?
Because I'm a massive Frankie Avalon fan, obvi.

Actually it's because of the "one category per film" rule.
Full disclosure: I'm not really watching things specifically for this challenge. I'm pretty much just watching what I want and then plugging it in wherever I can.
So far this year, I've watched 10 or more films by five directors. I've seen 18 from Kurosawa, for example. But I'm spreading his films out among the various awards categories and "films from Japan" and "foreign language" and so on. So when I realized that I'd seen 10 by Asher, none of which fit any other categories, I went with it. Also, bikini babes.

Completed the foreign language bracket. That's 7 different languages, if I watch any more throughout the year I'll replace some of those Kurosawas. I'd like to make it 10 different languages.

2. a film with a budget lower than 1 million
I mentioned this a few weeks ago but my situation hasn't improved. I've had NO luck finding budget info for anything. Every time I think I'm getting close I hit a paywall. If anybody can hook me up, pass it along please.
@Takoma11, which one did you watch for this entry? I'm willing to just copy another participant at this point.
I could just re-watch Blair Witch I guess, if I get desperate.

Thanks, I've seen that before so I've been checking Wiki whenever I watch something that I suspect is less than 1 mil, but the budget is never listed (for the particular movie I'm watching). Just bad luck on my part.

I was hoping there was a (free) source that was more reliable.

I have not found this to be the case, but I'm using the app. I'll check the desktop version from now on. I find the "production" area but clicking it asks me to join a pro account in order to see budget-related info.
