Japanese/Asian movie where a wife is raped on the lawn in the rain.

Tools

Japanese/Asian movie with a rich lonely wife who lives near the shore. Her husband is cheating(?) on her. A scene shows the husband having sex with the girlfriend(?) on the boat.

A gardner/maid/keeper comes into her house and even though the wife (who is alone) tries to run, he catches her on the lawn and rapes here in the rain. Later on in the movie he rapes her again in her house, this time with a forced BJ. One more forced sex occurs afterwards where she is pressed against the window. Eventually, the wife falls in love with the rapist and towards the end of the movie, she waits for the rapist in his shed(?) to have sex with him.

The rapist has a girlfriend who becomes jealous of the new found relationship between the wife and thde rapist. Right at the end of the movie before the credits, the wife and the rapist's girlfriend get into a fight on the shore.

The wife is possibly an artist as she has lots of paintings in her house.

There is lots of nudity in the movie. The movie is possibly from the Japanese "Pink film" genre.

I happened to see the movie on alluc as a suggestion from the side menu. I thought the main actress was beautiful and did a good job. Have been looking for it ever since, but have not found it. I will appreciate any help in finding this movie.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
Definitely sounds like a pink film, but one I haven't seen.

It would be good if you knew the release date. Is this a 70s film? This would mean you have to look for Nikkatsu's Romano Poruno, or other flicks of the time. Maybe it's a new film that pays homage to these flicks?

Naomi Tani is amazing in the genre, so I'd start the search from her. Look up her pics on the Internet. Was she the star of the film?

You seem to mention "wife" a lot. Was it explicitly stated and often underlined she's a wife? If yes, then maybe the word is in the title. If you're lucky you'll find the film under a name of "Unfaithful Wife: Oceans of Rape", or something.

I'll let you know if I have any ideas, and maybe will try to look for it myself later on, but I can't promise anything.

If you're absolutely desperate, a brute-force method would be to search through this list:

https://letterboxd.com/obscureness/list/pinku/

Look at posters and open every film is separate tab and read the description to see if it rings any bell. WARNING: This list does not contain every pink film!

@Mr Minio (for some reason I can't link it) Thanks for the reply.

It was definitely a 70's to 90's type of movie and not one a new film (unless it was trying to portay the older era).

I googled her and at first glance, she doesn't appear to be it. I'll keep looking different angles and let you know if it's her.

The movie was in another language, so I'm not 100% sure. Having said that, the way she interacts with the man, it appears to be a husband-wife relationship. I'm 80% sure on this. Pardon me if we land on the other 20%. I'll look for names of these kinds.

I really appreciate this. Please post any info you find.

Yes, this is what I plan to do now. As for desperation, this is my white whale.

I thank you for the help. Please share any info you find.

Here's a list of roman poruno films. Might be helpful.

You can also look up the list of pink films I've seen. I really can't remember a film like this, but maybe I have sclerosis?

Aaaand... two questions that should help narrowing the scope:
1. Did the characters have contemporary clothes, or did it take place in historical times (kimonos etc.)?
2. Did you watch it with English subtitles? If yes, we can ignore most extremely obscure films.

1. Did the characters have contemporary clothes, or did it take place in historical times (kimonos etc.)?
Yes they had contemporary clothes. It was not a historical times movie. The husband arrives and leaves the (beach?) house, where the wife lives ,in a car.

2. Did you watch it with English subtitles? If yes, we can ignore most extremely obscure films.

Sadly, I can't remember. I highly doubt that it had subtitles since I remember most other details really well.

One thing I forgot to mention:
The rapist had a mustache. It was a kind of like this (ignore everything else but the mustache) > farm4 dot static dot flickr dot com /3932/33325092430_019e85e5b5_b.jpg (sorry I can't post links yet). Also the rapist was brown not white. The wife was white.

Sounds delightful. Not.

Yeah, I find few things more sickening than "romanticized rape" movies, which is why the huge drooling fanbase over Fifty Shades Of Grey is so depressing to me.

Nanda kore!! I'll disappoint on @Mr Minio senpai if he cant answer it
I couldn't, and now I feel I disappointed you.

But you gotta appreciate I tried to help, and I provided a helping hand (OMG) in finding the film (he didn't find it yet, though - f*ck you English grammar).

What did you expect from a rape-themed erotic film? Asking sincerely.

Yeah, I find few things more sickening than "romanticized rape" movies, which is why the huge drooling fanbase over Fifty Shades Of Grey is so depressing to me.
Interestingly, Fifty Shades of Grey is directed at females, and its fans are mainly females (warning - anecdotal evidence). I heard it's pretty inane and inadequate sex-wise. and just plain bad. :P Maybe I should watch it just so I can make my own opinion on it, but on the other hand, I don't want to waste my time on it... "Romanticized rape" doesn't really bother me, although I understand why some people find it troublesome in non-erotic films. If the film as a whole is a sexploitation/erotica, and its main goal is to depict such a story, how can you treat it as the movie's fault? Unless you believe such contents shouldn't be depicted at all, but if that's your stance, then you should think about all these slashers, gialli, serial killers films that show murders in exciting, stylized ways.

I agree. Though I still haven't found the movie, but @Mr Minio has been nothing but helpful

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
@dontseethedot

Holy cow, I remembered two pinkus that have a "rape in the rain" scene!

Angel Guts: Nami
Angel Guts: Red Porno

Neither of them sounds like what you're looking for, though.

Maybe I just don't find a woman falling in love with and marrying her rapist anywhere near pleasant, or that it serves any purpose unless it's supposed to be shown as a bad thing.
Most people can suspend their disbelief over violence, but the Fifty Shades movies are looked at by people as "sexy" and are very insulting to real-life victims.

Film criticism should generally deal with how a film depicts what it wants to depict, taking that decision itself out of the equation. But you can criticize it on personal or human grounds (if not critical grounds) for those choices, for sure.

If we believe that art can have a positive effect on society when it says something we like (and I think everyone admits this), the converse must be also true: that depicting bad things can, theoretically, have a negative effect, and therefore if praise for the former is reasonable, so is criticism for the latter.

If a movie is cheaply made and with no real redeeming qualities, it's definitely hard to look past an especially awful message. It would really have to excel in all areas, and even so I don't think a movie like Loving The Bad Man which depicts a woman getting raped and then forgiving, marrying and raising a child with her rapist ('Cause Jesus tells me so!) is worth trying to make anyway.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
What Yoda said plus:

Maybe I just don't find a woman falling in love with and marrying her rapist anywhere near pleasant, or that it serves any purpose unless it's supposed to be shown as a bad thing.
People watch it, because it appeals to them on some level. Maybe they like the novelty of it, the misoginism of it, the edginess of it... The original purpose is to titillate the audience. A common trait in BDSM/rape art (literature, then movies) is that a woman is caught and subjected to (BDSM) torture (or just "vanilla" raped over and over again) until she starts enjoying it. She finds out she always loved it, but had to be appropriately trained to discover this hidden desire. She develops a sort of affection, or love for her rapist, or what you could call a Stockholm syndrome. Also, classical cinema is long gone, and we've been living in post-modernist times for a couple of decades now. Such ideas are not exclusive to pink films, and many post-modernist filmmakers (e.g. Almodovar) used a similar trope in their films, too (e.g. Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!). This includes pink film directors as well, as the best pink films are (often experimental) art films commenting on the subject.

Now, it's absolutely fine to oppose the idea on moral grounds, but you have to notice the difference between the film you mentioned, Loving The Bad Man, which sounds like bad Christian propaganda, and the film the OP is looking for, which sounds like an erotic film satisfying a particular fetish. Both sound morally dubious, but the first one presents wrong ideas in a realistic environment and tries to directly influence the viewer's way of thinking, while the other simply caters to the viewer's desires. Erotica that goes beyond vanilla does not have to mean sick, or dangerous.

Feminist revisionism is important, but I think we should try to change people's way of thinking just where their worldview and attitudes are. Go for films that present such ideas and try to present themselves as serious life-advice cinema, not movies people watch just to get off to. You can change the way people think, but you can't win with their fetishes and desires.

Fifty Shades movies are looked at by people as "sexy" and are very insulting to real-life victims.
As far as I know it's not based on real events, so who exactly does the film insult? Now take a stylish murder in any film that has one. Does the depiction insult every murder victim?

None of us can critique this movie. Because none of us have seen it. Except for the OP, who has only vague memories of it. And those memories may be not-quite-accurate.

We don't know what the "message" of this movie is. Maybe it had a good message and expressed it well.

There is another thread where someone started out by describing a pornographic war movie. Eventually folks figured out he was talking about "The Crying Game", which was quite critically acclaimed, not really pornography, not really a war movie.

On the other hand, I certainly could be wrong, and maybe the OP's movie was an exploitation film. But I, and all of the rest of you, don't know without seeing it.

My two cents towards the discussion this query has sparked.

First of all I pretty much agree with everything @Mr Minio has said. I believe that my opinion on these matters may go even further than his but the general idea is the same.

Secondly I always find it really strange how certain topics make people completely forget the difference between fact and fiction, reality and fantasy. Why does fictional sex, especially non-standard variations of it, always enrage people and make them bring up consequences of such actions in real life to discussion? Why is murdering fictional characters OK to essentially everyone but putting them through certain sexual scenarios is outrageous?

Thirdly concerning specifically the rape scenario discussed. As far as I know there's been lots of studies made about sexual fantasies and rape fantasies are rather common among women. Obviously this doesn't mean that these women actually wish to be raped but on safe fantasy level there is something about it that intrigues them. Movies are a form of fantasy themselves so why couldn't they explore fantasies real people have?

Fourthly with the continuously developing CGI I wish that animation will eventually remove all the taboos. People already fantasize about weird, "immoral" and "sick" stuff so putting them on screen doesn't really generate anything that doesn't already exist. I don't believe that any fantasy is wrong, no matter how vile or disgusting it may seem to me (or to anyone else). In imaginary world we should be able to do what ever we desire.
