The thing isolated becomes incomprehensible
Das Experiment (2001, Oliver Hirschbiegel)

Had this on my watchlist for ages.
It's very similar to Gansel's Die Welle where a social experiment goes wrong! What's great about this movie is that it's so realistic. Nothing happens that it couldn't happen on real life with real people on a situation like this one.
I love how every type of personality is transformed into a character and how can things go out of the control so fast!
The germans really know how to make great cinema!

Martha Marcy May Marlene/ Rewatch

I love this movie,I was surprised to go online and see that people didnt share my excitement for it.

Martha is a young girl, who after a few years without contact suddenly calls her sister in panick, asking her to come get her.
As they try to reconnect we slowly get to know more about Marthas experience living with in a cult and her disconnection to the real world. The movie only touches on the surface but takes us along from when she first joins to the day she finally breaks free-and the consequenses of leaving. The movie also depics her sisters struggle to understand her and make amends for the time apart.

A few things that keeps it from getting the highest score but contains spoilers

WARNING: spoilers below
The only thing that really bothers and me about this movie is the sister and brother in law not trying harder to find out where she was or who she was with the time she was gone.Although it fits with the movie it seemed unnatural to not try harder when someone seems as troubled as Martha.
Also at the party at the end she (thinks she) meets someone from the cult,It seemes strange that when someone is screaming "we have to leave, hes out there" etc and acting like shes genuinly scared- the solution is not to ask who or what or try to figure out what is happening but to give her pills so she falls asleep....

I agree, she really surprised me given who her sisters are

What didnt you like about? apart from the way too long and confusing title?
I think my fascination of cults plays a part of me liking it so much though, but i really like the tone of the movie.

What didnt you like about?
I did quite like it i just didn't love it or anything, Olsens performance was the only exceptional thing for me the rest the story, other performances and characters, the script, etc, were just pretty average for me.

From the top 100 British films list, and it's a comedy. I can't say I laughed much, but it is a very light and likable movie. At less than 90 minutes, it never gets tiresome.

I thought the fact that it only scratched the surface was a nice move. We get enough to understand what's happening but we don't get all the necessary pieces, so it leaves us with a sense of unease. That feeling is in my opinion what allows us to be more so immersed in the story and fully connect to the characters. We're ultimately taking that ride along side them instead of just spectating. At least that's my take on it. It's a great film.

Yes i felt the same thing!!
I only mentioned it because i see alot of people have criticized it for not going deeper
so if someone hadnt seen it here they would know what to expect

The Grand Budapest Hotel -

Glad to have finally watched this i loved it as i expected. This was visually spectacular like most Wes Anderson films, fantastic use of colour and gorgeous sets. As charming and quirky as all Wes films but with a slight darker tone than usual that i wasn't expecting. Ralph Fiennes was really amazing, i think he probably should have won the oscar out of those that were nominated at least. It wasn't just him though, the film had an amazing cast overall possibly the best this decade, i think everybody in it did a good job. Overall it was a very fun, funny film that looked stunning and had an interesting story and characters. Pretty much the standard for Wes Anderson

Possible spoilers

This movie centeres around a young french girl trying to come to terms with her sexuality. Her surroundings at school are not very gay friendly, and Adele herself seems rather confused about it all. She then meets a blue haired girl that cast all doubts aside.

now this one is difficult. On one hand you have a beatiful raw film,a beautiful love story,an amazing cast and settings. I dont know if its taken any inspiration from ****ing Åmål/Show me love-but its very similar. And considering thats one of my all time favourite movies thats not a bad thing. But then midways it decides to throw all of that out the window with a tacky porn scene.
I dont know if they thought the only way they would get people to see a movie about lesbians were to put on some girl on girl action but it could have been done in a different way.I dont know about you but i didnt go from virgin straight into the 69 postition. They also then cut straight from her being in school to her working which i found odd, considering the movie seemed to be based on her struggle with peoples unaccaptance-how did the rest of the time at school go? she obviously wasnt treated well the last time we saw her there?

this COULD have been a very high rated movie-possible one of my faves had they not ruined it midways.
But i hope to see Adele Exarchopoulos in more movies.she was definitly the highlight

Sorry Harmonica.......I got to stay here.
Full Metal Jacket (1987)

If you haven't seen this Top-5 Vietnam war movie, you are living under a stone. I waited a long while to watch this movie again, and it still fu#!ing rocks.

The first 30 minutes or so demonstrates the sheer awesomeness of vociferously fierce Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermy. Although his performance has been "memed" in bits and pieces a million and a half times, you must watch this again to fully immerse in the brilliance of this man and his performance.

Just one of many outstanding performances, particularly Vincent D'Onofrio as "Gomer Pyle", Adam Baldwin as "Animal Mother", Matthew Modine as "Joker", and Arliss Howard as the charismatic "Cowboy".

I honestly can't find anything negative about this film, it is just about perfect. For the maybe 1 of you out there who hasn't seen it, DO.

5 sucky-fu%cky long times out of 5
