Greatest Female Characters in Film

Seeing all this controversy about Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road has got me thinking about my favourite female characters of all time. I mean independent women who don't just scream all the time. My favourites would be Sarah Connor from Terminator 2, Princess Leia in A New Hope, Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, Jessie from Toy Story 2, Dory from Finding Nemo, Sidney from Scream, Ellen Ripley from Aliens, The Bride from Kill Bill and Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I agree with Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton)

On a side note though, there wasn't any real "controversy". The website which generated the non-controversy gets less google hits than individual characters from 1990s video games, just for the record.

The media's not interested in relevance though, just in generating 'outrage' for ratings - it's the same reason that "serial killers" get so much publicity in the media despite their having been only a few 100 in the past 100 years (100 out of 7,000,000,000+ population, just for perspective).

A loving heart is the truest wisdom.
In no particular order:
Belle and Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast
Homura Akemi from PMMM
Nausicaa from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
San and Eboshi from Princess Mononoke
Rose from Titanic
Fantine from Les Miserables
Hana from Wolf Children
Satsuki and Mei from My Totoro
Lucilla from Gladiator
