Does anybody have a massive master list of recommendations? I already have some on my radar, but my radar's scope needs increasing.

Good luck with the countdown, Daniel. Don't mess it up.
Maybe if we both put Brave Little Toaster at number one he will never know?

I think I will be a hippie for the '60s Countdown and be all about LOVE.

I LOVE Asian movies. I hope we have a ton of them. I know we will.

We should embrace all of the many different cultures of the world!

PEACE.

I agree with Weeman. Can a few people look through my MoFo lists and make a list of the top 20-ish movies I haven't seen but need to before I submit my list?

Lawrence of Arabia and 2001 are probably the top two.

Friendly Mushroom you asked...so I went through your MoFo list.

What I recommend from the 1960s that you haven't seen. In no particular order:

The Sound of Music
Lawrence of Arabia
2001
To Kill a Mockinbird
Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolf?
In the Heat of the Night
The Wild Bunch
RoseMary's Baby
The Great Escape
Plant of the Apes
Cape Fear
The Magnificent Seven
La Dolca Vita
Once Upon a Time in the West
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg

My personal choices for you:

The Unforgiven (1960)
The Innocents (1961)

I hate all this war going on! Here comes another tank right now....

How can someone not come up with 25 great films for the best decade in the history of cinema.
I already have. Well all did. It was the 70's list.

This should be fun. While far from my favorite decade in film, I do think that it's the most ecclectic and interesting one. This is the perfect excuse to rewatch 2001: A Space Odyssey, which I haven't seen in years and would likely enjoy more now, as well as to see Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Strangelove (both of which I blind bought a while back when they were absurdly cheap).

Heh, guess I can't argue with that. Hmm... Oh, the books are better, ha!
But if you subscribe that, (which I don't as the book isn't a better film than the film is a better book) then the book is always better regardless of which decade it's adapted in.

The Manchurian Candidate, Cape Fear, The Innocents, Whatever Happend to Baby Jane, Wait Until Dark and Cool Hand Luke. A few smaller-known recs.
