Get to know you?

Tools

I've been here a little while now but unfortunately I don't feel that I know an awful lot of you very well (possibly my own fault for not sticking in enough). I mean, I know a fair few of you but I would love to branch out a little. So yeah... this may be awkward but maybe we could post here to know each other (if others feel the same) or/and get to know me which in turn should help me get to know you. Maybe.

Yeah, sorry if this thread is lame.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
I don't think it's lame at all.

What would you like to know about me?

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

You can check out some of the MoFo Grills and sign up for one yourself to get a better idea of some members.

Hey Rhys, I think this is a great idea.

I've seen your ID before but we've never chatted. You're right many people don't even know each other here...which equals lost opportunities to: learn, share and laugh.

I got 2 Daughters, one of which plays footy for Huddersfield and I play pool for numerous teams including my County and semi-pro level in Interleague. I play money matches too to keep my cash up.

I've been through more than most... my kids don't live with me, they live with my Sister. The reason being is Social Services accused me of child abuse (the abuse was at the hands of their mum) and I proved my innocence and her guilt, but through it all I suffered a total breakdown and have been declared unfit for a regular job, so the Girls live with my Sis now. I've been diagnosed as having PTSD from it all. Social Services destroyed me.
The Girls' mum has a restraining order now though, she's not even allowed to send letters or make phone calls, and the Girls have no wish to know her anyway.

Other than that, I watch countless movies, my original Doctor even prescribed watching films as a way to clear my mind of all the stuff inside (from the breakdown etc).

I love sci-fi, but it must be well made, I don't have much time for cheaply written sci-fi and I hate girly chick-flick movies like Bridget Jones and Twilight.

Since I was a kid, I've studied various subjects from history to various Paleo subjects... palaeontology, paleoecology, palaeogeography, palaeotopography and palaeoclimatology... and cross referenced them with astrophysics, astronomy and planetary mechanics, basic physics and gravity research, crossed that also with general sciences and have written dissertations on Global Warming.

One of my theories on Global Warming was recently proven right too

But, well, other than that, I am The Rodent, and I am a whizz on Photoshop.

What fictional character would you date?
I will answer it in my Grill thread. Please, ask any further questions in this thread.

Wow, wasn't really expecting this response. I really don't know where to start though so maybe I should talk about myself a little and go from there?

So I'm Rhys Belding, I live in England and I am currently studying Film at Sheffield Hallam University and will be heading into my second year in September. I have only recently delved deeply into film and through this website I have gained a lot of interest and knowledge and have had the pleasure of sharing my thoughts and progression in my threads.

I'm 19 and also play video games (mainly RPG's and other strongly story driven games) but I also like some FPS games. I play guitar to a very limited extent and like a very wide variety of both music and film.

I also wish to learn more about a huge variety of things through my influence of a certain musical artist. My list of things to delve into include socialism, capitalism, communism, nationalism and colonialism and wish to then branch out from these. I am planning to learn about these things as well as studying upon my course during term time as I have access to a fantastic university library back in Sheffield.

That's all for now I guess.

Here is my introductory clip from the documentary I starred in

Now I study filmmaking and I have a 5 year old diabetic pit bull, although my health kind of sucks so I doubt I'll ever be able to fulfill my potential. I am beautiful in drag and I'm working toward making a short film about a trans superhero.

Oh and I'm 32.

What are your favourite RPG games?

What are your favourite FPS games?

What do you want to do after you finish your major?

Does your 'delving' into nationalism entail becoming a Grammar Nazi?

Ooooh, I lived in Maryland for 6 months actually when I went to stay in America. I was 7 and went to school there.

My step-dad is American.

What are your favourite RPG games?

Final Fantasy 7, 9 & 10.
Also Persona 4 even though I am still on my first playthough.

What are your favourite FPS games?

Farcry 3 was really fun but my favourite FPS is probably Halo 3.

What do you want to do after you finish your major?

I'm still really unsure what I want to be, however a dream for me would be to become a cinematographer and earn a living from it.

Does your 'delving' into nationalism entail becoming a Grammar Nazi?

Nah.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
My pro tip is if you wanna become a cinematographer, you should buy a camera already and learn to take good photos. Then you can proceed to making films.

Rhys, I thought you wanted to be a director? Cinematographer is cool though too!

Already on it.

I finished making a film a few months ago actually.

I did but more recently I decided that a cinematographer would suit me more to be fair.

Good work man!

What was the point of labeling the bottles "Drink me"?

Thank you for the support.

It was an idea thought up by James Wightman (the clown). It references Alice in Wonderland but is also supposed to show the broken mental state of the character who is almost being enticed by the bottles themselves. Possibly a little too ambitious but I thought it was a cool idea.
