A song for August

Nah, you have to nominate a song in the current round before you rank anything. Have you participated in one of these monthly Chypmunk runs? I think it's a better format than the old song vs song style tournaments. People nominate their tune, then everybody listens to them and ranks top to bottom and each round produces a winner that advances to the final. At the end of the month, all the finalists go up against each other to determine the overall winner of the month.

I haven't, but yeah sounds good.

JJ I need your advice. Do I nominate something everyone will hate as usual, or something more likable? In other words, something from Tago Mago, or Bananaphone?

if you nominate bananaphone i will kill you (unless this violates forum rules, in which case I will do the most that is allowed by said policies)

I usually nominate a song that I love, and just hope that everyone won't hate it.

I like Raffi's "Bananaphone". I even used it as my cell phone ringer for a while.

Other than my pick, there were a couple of these songs that I had heard before (MGMT's and Lorde), but I gave the lot two rounds of listening today anyway. Once again, had issues with some songs but nothing I really hated.

EDIT: Worth noting that I have "Nothing to Lose" stuck in my head right now.

EDIT #2: Give me until tomorrow to pick something for Round 3.

EDIT #3: Forgot to add DNS!!

This is what I like to hear

No can do I'm afraid, this is a tightly run ship and Round 3 will start roughly 1hr 22m from now......if you don't see this and make a nom in time then whatever you pick with will have to be for Round 4.

Sorry if that sounds somewhat harsh but from past experience if I start waiting for people this is likely to turn into a Song For October

edit: No Yin, that last comment was not directed at anyone in particular

Grats to Yin on getting the second tune through to the Final

Round three up in about an hour and a quarter...

I listened to the Sons of Raphael debut album off the strength of "Yeah Yeah Yeah", which I think is great, but the album was pretty disappointing. I did listen to it on a walk outside, so maybe some outside noise and paying attention to the scenery and other things could have distracted me some. Even under these conditions "Yeah Yeah Yeah" stood out as being the best track on the album by far.
