Speak literature of any kind, novels, poetry, anything.

Here's a story for everyone, first.

So I'm starting War and Peace now. I'm on Chapter 9 and I'm loving it.

How is this different from the books thread?

So let's put some content here in form of asking for a recommendation. Are there any good new horror writers / books I should check out?

Either something character driven (like Stephen King, Joe Hill and John Ajvide Lindqvist), something gross and brutal like old Clive Barker or something weird and cosmic like Lovecraft. Obviously I still have many Kings left but I'm not sure if he's someone I can read a lot because all his books seem to be written exactly the same (though I admit I've mostly read his older stuff).

I hear a lot of good things about House of Leaves. You should check that out. And in case you don't know, the new novel Doctor Sleep is a sequel to The Shining.

I shall now commence saying something likely no one on Earth has ever said:

I am in the middle of reading War and Peace AND In Search of Lost Time.
