No one watching this? I suppose many have bailed out of Netflix.

It's a watchable series, although it's tough to bring a fresh lawyer show to the little screen. The attorney Mickey Haller is the half brother of Harry Bosch who, as you know, has a very popular series on Amazon-- another network. Both characters were the invention of the great Michael Connelly. This particular series was based upon Connelly's The Brass Verdict.

Both series have PC'd their casting, which seems almost an unwritten regulation in Hollywood in modern times. But here the screenwriting is not as strong as it is in Bosch.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays the attorney, Mickey Haller. He does a creditable job, but whether it's his acting or his character's screen writing, he's really not the Haller of the novels. He seems alternatively probing and wussy. Perhaps that's what contemporary male series stars have become these days.

His investigator ("Cisco") in the series, Angus Sampson, would have been a much better choice for the Haller character. Then M. G-R could have played the investigator. Maybe Manuel has some star power. It likely didn't hurt that he's Mexican. The previous choice for the role prior to covid was Logan Marshall-Green (what's with all the hyphenated names?) who was jettisoned when the series was picked up by Netflix.

The series is relatively tame, but somewhat enjoyable. At least they hold the language to a minimum, and there's no horror...
