3-4 month watch period. Stick with imdb years for eligibility. Simple is best. Thanks for doing this, Captain. I don't know you but I will be judging you. Watching. Especially as the OG 90s countdown host. With lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. Your whole mofo career hangs in the balance.

Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Also, I will be gonging films in the case SC doesn't make his return.
I plan on putting a lot of Asian films on my list to draw SC back to the site but it's good to know that you'll be there to fill the void just in case.

Fallen Angels or we riot.

I'm already prepping my introduction. Here's a sample to whet your appetites

It was the 90s - Queen Victoria ruled Britannia and Vincent Van Gough was dead.

Thank you...

If you weren't fired up before, your certainly raring to go now. Also, The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat (1896) better top this poll!

My list is pretty much ready and as usual I will be one of those that sends a list in early. This is going to be an exciting countdown and hopefully there's some surprising entries that make it to the countdown list

An 1890s countdown? Thomas Edison is going to rock it!
The list will be loaded with his, Méličs and the Lumičre brothers, and probably dozens of those Serpentine dance movies (they filmed a looooot of Serpentine dances in that era).

Great thing is, they all run around a minute or two, so we could whip this out, watch parties and all, within a week!

In all seriousness, I have worked up a "rough" introductory post for the preliminary thread, graphics and rules (well, mostly, there is one newbie type issue I have to address) - so when Yoda returns, and I get familiar with the software, we'll be good to go.

I also whittled my list down to the essential 25, and will think on it over the months, see if there's anything I want to change, anything I should watch beforehand.

And early entries are good, I like early entries. Receiving entries is like opening Christmas gifts, what will be in there, something cool I hope, like the latest Alice Cooper record... ah dang, it's a bunch of socks and underwear ("groan"... says my teenage self from the 70s)

Ohhh we get to watch the first science fiction film - La Charcuterie mécanique of 1895.

Trouble with a capitial 'T'
I started going through IMDB list for movies made between 1990-1999. I had to narrow the search down, as no way am I looking through 44,605 titles to see if there's any 90s films I want to watch

But...I did narrow it down to about 2000 titles to search through and so far I have found 31 movies to watch and most I've never seen. Oh and I'm sorting A to Z and I'm only on the titles starting with 'B'. This is going to be epic! I've not watched many 90s films as in the 1990s I was busy courting So my movie watching work is cut out for me

I started looking at letterboxd because you can filter by decade and year.

I need to work on mine more. My #1 won't change.

I'm not sure what mine will be yet. The 90s is like unexplored territory for me.

I have a rough list put together and it's changed a bit in the 10+ years since the last time we did the countdown. I have about 10 or so films that I'd like to rewatch but I've seen over 1250 movies from 90s so it will be tough to find anything new to watch.

Trying Real Hard To Be The Shepherd
This will be my toughest list to cut I think. Which means the temptation to leave off stuff I know will be there will be great. We shall see how it goes.

lol, this made me laugh.

Also don't forget in the 1990's (1997, and I remember this as a starting freshman in HS, it happened during the summer, hearing and reading about it) the West lost frippin' Hong Kong after 100 years of British rule and its more lax style of governance in preference towards freedoms to communist China, much to the chagrin of most of its residents who enjoyed freedom and some of the great filmmakers to come out of Hong Kong such as John Woo and Wong Kar-Wai

https://lwlies.com/articles/wong-kar...ng-transition/

Thanks for picking up this task and responsibility too.

I'm going to try a different approach and not include as many of the unusual suspects but rather great films that might not be the first to mind when thinking about the great 1990's films and boy oh boy, there are so many! Of course I missed it the first time around when MoFo did a 1990's countdown, but I'm sure many people have seen new things, have had their opinion's/preferences in film change a bit, and we also have new members and have sadly lost some older members too.
