I figured this one would be posted here, but I have to say I don't think it was a bad recast. He was a lot different than Dick York, but he was a plausible replacement. As a matter of fact, when the show was originally cast. Sargent was the first actor that William Asher approached to play Darren, but Sargent had already accepted a role on The Tammy Grimes Show. This led to York eventually getting the role of Darren.

You may be right. I always preferred Dick York as he always seemed angry or on edge when his mother-in-law interfered in his life which was funny. Dick Sargent's character seemed to lack any real emotion. I just don't think he put a lot into his character.

I preferred Dick York too, but I don't consider Dick Sargent a bad replacement.

Should I remove my entry?

Not at all...you are certainly entitled to your opinion...I just wanted to let you know that my opinion was different.
