What are the best films from the first half of the decade?

Tools

No, I thought the second Hobbit movie was cheezy and awful. Haven't seen the third Hobbit movie or The Raid 2 yet.

I'm really behind on watching 2014 movies, and I'm usually catching up on the previous year's films through March. I still haven't seen things like Interstellar, Birdman, Nightcrawler, or Gone Girl either.

Check out Raid 2 for sure. Just as crazy as the first, but with a much different story.

There are many to be. But the really special ones:

1. The Artist. Simply Amazing. And from the last true good year for the Oscars. Most of them after this have been sub par!
2. The King's Speech.
2. Jagten.
3. Gravity
4. Tangerines.
5. Toy Story 3.

There are others... but these spring to mind first.

The Artist is a definite favorite of mine as well.

I thought that 2012 was a mixed bag for the Oscars (I loved Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook) and 2013 was a generally poor year for movies on the whole (and the best of them were definitely not Academy friendly). I am a big fan of 2014, however.

Here are my 5 favs

1. Silver Linings Playbook (2012) - Jennifer Lawrence......that is all

2. Nightcrawler (2014) - One of the greatest character transformations I've ever seen

3. Birdman (2014) - This is now my Favorite Keaton movie

4. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) - As a film Desolation was my favorite but the first one gave me so many LOTR feeeelz. Also must say Martin Freeman is the perfect Young Bilbo Baggins. (Big fan of his Watson on Sherlock as well)

5. The Way Way Back (2013) - Awesome film, being a huge Sam Rockwell fan he was hilarious in this movie

(although if Jurassic World is really good this list may change)

Honorable Mentions: Predestination, Django Unchained, Maniac, Prometheus, Star Trek: Into the Darkness, Kick Ass, Super 8, The Cabin in the Woods, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Silver Lining Playbook... ah might go in to the films you hate, but everyone else loves thread for me. Meaningless drivel. There was nothing special in that movie that you wont see in any another romcom.

Lincoln.. almost slept in the middle. Zero Dark Thirty was good.

This year, I was excited, but as i run through the movies, i am slowly getting disheartened. Other than the two "British" films, i really cant call anything super awesome!

The foreign language section this is year is good though!

1- Whiplash (By far)
2- The Raid 2
3- Sinister
4- The Conjuring
5- Drive

that is true.....besides of course every other romcom doesn't have Jennifer Lawrence soooooo

What's so special about her?? Looks good, average actress. Today its her... tomorrow its someone else! So its a revolving door!

what gave it away? lol

She is the reason i like the film so much, her performance alone. De Niro and Tucker were good and Cooper was alright but i mainly like the film because of her. If she wasn't in it being awesome i agree it probably would of been a typical romcom to me

it is the only romcom I like as well lol

From the small text below the image. Hardly recognize her from that yawning photo!
