The MoFo Top 100 of the 2010s Countdown

Nightcrawler was my #19.

The main character is probably one of the most repulsive people to ever grace the screen, no redeeming qualities whatsoever, which of course makes him the perfect sort of person for the career he chooses. Really solid film about quite an interesting job.

I had WWDitS on my master list and now that I'm looking at my actual list I'm wondering how I cut it.

Nightcrawler is intense and not at all subtle, and feels like it could have been made in the 70s. Great movie which I think deserves to be higher on the list. I had it at #9.

• #55. Nightcrawler (2014) - this movie was one of a few surprises for me of the decade. Because of its nominations, I saw it back then. At first, I was very skeptical, thinking of Jake Gyllenhaal as kind of an "American Pie" type nobody.
Well, this movie turned to be very decent and Gyllenhaal just the guy for it. I liked it. (79/100).
It even briefly circulated in my mind for the countdown, finally taking #34 of the 2010's on my extended top 60. Hm, the part #26-60 of my list is highly successful with nine titles in top 100 so far:

What We Do In the Shadows was my #8

Some people have said it wasn't their type of film; it absolutely is my type of film. I liked the mockumentary style and the incongruity of having a mockumentary about vampires. I thought it was consistently amusing, sometimes hilarious and very likable.

Nightcrawler is one of those films that I thought was good when I watched it but I haven't really thought about again since.

Well I'll be! I thought What We Do in the Shadows was on my ballot but it isn't! I have a lot of fond feelings for it, which at this point admittedly are a bit meshed up with my feelings about the show. Very enjoyable, very silly film.

I haven't seen Nightcrawler and it's another one that's on my no-fly list for personal reasons. That said, I am very aware of how much some people really think it's excellent, so no surprise to see it appear.

What We Do In the Shadows is hilarious in my book and just the right type of dry humor I love so much. Didn't vote for it but am glad to see it made another countdown.

I haven't seen Nightcrawler yet but I'm really eager to now after reading the praise for it. Especially because I agree that Gyllenhaal is a fine actor who can handle just about any role he takes with such skill. I do have it on my DVR so when I can set some time aside, I need to get to that bad boy!
