Smaller western (1950s/1960s) with a Michael Landon lookalike?

Searching for an American western from the 1950s/1960s.

It was about a 30-/40-year-old cowboy who ended up at a young widow's home. She lived in the middle of nowhere with her 2-4 children.
I think it was an antagonist who came by regularly demanding tax from the widow and that he wanted to marry her.

The cowboy then decides to help them, which leads to a long build-up where the woman got in love with the cowboy and in the end there's a shootout in which both the antagonist and cowboy dies.

This was a smaller western in color and I don't think there were any A-listers in it. The cowboy reminded of Michael Landon though.

Mos def not Bonanza, man. This was a movie.

I thought of Audie Murphy since he resembles Landon and was in cowboy movies during that time period. I don't have a movie suggestion though.
