Yeah, Nolan has said in the past that he disliked them for the very reasons you mentioned. He said he was happy to the the Following remake because he felt up and coming filmmakers would benefit from his DIY process, and I think he only did the Memento commentary for similar reasons although I have to say it's, ironically enough, the dullest out of all the ones he has done. Insomnia commentary is solid though and the scenes are presented in the order they were shot during the production process. Probably at his request to make it more entertaining
