Are you ready for Terminator 5 & 6 ?

Big Chico's Movie Blog

O.k. here’s the deal, The Terminator franchise has sucked since part two, and the new movie didn’t impress me at all. The only thing that could have saved Terminator Salvation was at the end John Connor (Christian “I need a cough drop” Bale) died and the new Terminator (Sam Worthington) took his identity and saved mankind. But the world doesn’t work the way I want it to and today there is news that original franchise writer Bill Wisher has treatments written for part fifth and sixth of the series done and it blows away any thing we’ve heard so far.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Wisher who co-wrote Terminator and T2 has a 24 page treatment for Terminator 5 and four page concept out line for 6. Deadlines Mike Fleming had the privilege to read them both and here’s what he had to say:

"As a 'Terminator' fanboy myself, I think Wisher has done a terrific job with a plot that accepts the storylines from Jonathan Mostow’s 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' and McG’s 'Terminator: Salvation.' Most interestingly, he turns the story back to the core characters and time travel storyline of the first two films that Wisher crafted with Cameron.

Wisher’s 2-picture construct takes place in a post-apocalyptic battleground, and factors in an element of time travel that allows for Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese to interact beyond their single fateful meeting when he traveled back in time to protect her in the original film. Wisher has created a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger that is as surprising as his shift from villain in the first film, to John Connor’s bodyguard in the second. Schwarzenegger wouldn’t be needed until the final film, which wouldn’t shoot until after he ends his term as California Governor.

There are several new villains, and plenty of firepower. For instance, a swarm of 'Night Crawlers,' 4 1/2-foot tall border sentries that are set like mines to spring up out of the ground and ambush rebel fighters with 10 MM pistols built into their wrists, and fingers and feet that are razor sharp. Also fresh off the Skynet assembly line are new shape-shifting cyborgs that can morph together in Transformers-like mode, and are more lethal than anything we’ve seen in previous 'Terminator' installments.

Wisher presents a satisfying conclusion to what by then would be a 6-picture struggle between Skynet’s machines and John and Sarah Connor to preserve a future that allows mankind to prevail over the machines."

Well that was more satisfying then the last two movies combined. I think BCMB is going to add another category “GEEK PORN”, because just reading this made me excited for more. No, I’m just kidding. I couldn’t call it Geek porn because then I would get those people who thought my site has bondage pictures of Princess Leia Organa on it.

Any who, this at least has me excited to see more of the Terminator!

With the Terminator rights just bought at an auction this week after a grueling battle and debate, I doubt that this will get moving anytime soon. After the first two Terminators, Terminator: Salvation wasn't such a great lead in to a new storyline. Although i enjoyed it somewhat. The director's cut was better on DVD. I hope 5 and 6 are better.

The moment Terminator 3 came out and crapped all over the theme of Terminator 2 (nothing is inevitable, you make your own destiny, etc) I have been disappointed.

28 days...6 hours...42 minutes...12 seconds
As far as I'm concerned, the series ended with 2.

Are you ready for Terminator 5 & 6?
No?

So true.

You ready? You look ready.

Will there be boobs?
There better be this time or I'm gonna start a petition.

Also, I didn't think 3 was bad and I didn't think 4 was all that bad. I'm not eagerly anticipating the next installments or anything but I'll watch 'em.

I have no faith in sequel. Nothing better is possible than terminator 2. I don.t love the sequel. I even did not watch the movie Lost World. Thought i had ticket in my pocket.

I'd see 10 of them.
I just love the Bot Terminators are. Shape shifting morphing ones sounds cool to me.
So I could take more versions of them any day.

Anyone liked Terminator Chronicles Of Sarah Connor like I really did a lot???

Anyone liked Terminator Chronicles Of Sarah Connor like I really did a lot???
Yes. My boyfriend insisted that I watch it, then I got addicted, then it was canceled
Figures.

I am the Watcher in the Night
The Sarah Connor Chronicles was pretty cool. Loved the ending. Sad it had to be cancelled.
I'd be interested in the sequels in hope of watching some thing special. For me, the series ended with T2, everything since has just been a pleasant distraction from the fact we will never have an action movie such as that, ever again.

I loved the first two, hated the third and find the fourth watchable, and as for Sarah Connor Chrapicles, ewgh. Please.

If they make the 5th and 6th, I hope they do the future war thing that was seen in the second movie.
I'm hoping we see the defense grid get smashed and SkyNet panics like Kyle tells Sarah in T1.

So far the future has been very Matrix-real-world in the look and nothing like the second movie's dark, dusty layout with blue lasers blasting (phased plasma rifles in a 40 watt range) and humans hiding underground.

There's also been very little of what Kyle actually tells Sarah in the first movie either in regard to SkyNet or the Terminators.
OK Connor and Co. changed the timelines slightly by messing around with explosives and guns in the first two films, but surely there should be something recognisable in the 5th and 6th movies. So far they've completely rewritten the story as the films have gone on.
I just hope they go back to the roots and get the current midge-modge story and continuity errors sorted out.
But hey, it is Hollywood, so I'm probably flogging a dead horse with my wishes.

I am the Watcher in the Night
Completely agree Rodent!! Apart from the whole Chronicles thing.

Personally I think if they want to do this right, all the writers, producers and directors involved should forget T3 and Salvation and pick up the story where T2 left off. Move it to the future and show how the decisions in the first 2 movies changed the world, where the war still goes ahead but things have changed. Include, like you said, what Kyle speaks of in the first movie like you said, should be included. Also, I don't think there's any need to see the dweeby teen or adolescent versions of John, I wana see badass, terminator slayer John who is commanding an entire army!

Arnold Schwarzenegger set to return as The Terminator

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed plans to return to the Terminator franchise that made him a Hollywood star, according to reports.

Having re-launched his acting career after a stint as a governor, Arnie told Metro that he is “definitely up” for making ‘Terminator 5’, even at the ripe old age of 65.

Schwarzenegger confirmed that a script is in the works, announcing that:

“They’re [movie producers] working on a script. It could happen, probably in the next year.

“I am absolutely up for it.”

Arnie missed out on the last Terminator film ‘Terminator Salvation’ because he was tied up with governing the state of California. The last movie starred Christian Bale as a grown-up John Connor (the leader of the human resistance).

The action star has had a decent warm up for a return to the Terminator movies having taken roles in Sly Stallone’s ‘Expendables 2’ and upcoming blockbuster ‘The Last Stand’ where he plays a sheriff under attack from a drug baron.

He’s back...
