National Lampoon's Vacation. It never gets old.
That's true, still makes me laugh and goodness knows how many times I've seen it. Little Miss Sunshine is great too, and I'm very fond of Nebraska. Think Bruce Dern is fantastic in that .

Harry and Tonto, The Straight Story, Scarecrow, The Last Detail, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, The Dream Catcher (1999), etc.

#1 for me would definitely have to be The Muppet Movie. God I love that film. And the runner-up may well be Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

EDIT - Actually just thinking, would Dumb and Dumber qualify as a road movie?

Excellent question...if I had to pick one, I would have to go with Thelma and Louise, though I have to give an honorable mention to The Sure Thing, and, of course, Road Trip, which made my guilty pleasures list.
