Rest in Peace.

I had a weird respect for him for actually retiring, since so many actors seem to just act up until the really end, but he really did walk away from it one day. I admire that, and I admired his work.

Ha, just saw this:

Related, we did a podcast about that movie with Holden and it's a lot of fun, lotta great trivia: https://www.movieforums.com/communit...73#post1762573

Man, gonna miss this dude. Gonna listen to that episode again right now to reminisce a bit.

OMG, 2020 has been the worst year EVER...I have to confess that I have never been big on James Bond, but I do remember seeing Goldfinger when I was a kid and being mesmerized by the urbane sophistication and sexiness of this guy Sean Connery. They broke the mold when they made this guy. That voice, those eyes...I wasn't big on Bond but I did see a healthy chunk of his work...Murder on the Orient Express, A Fine Madness, The Anderson Tapes, his Oscar-winning performance in The Untouchables, The Molly Maguires...he was the best thing about Hitchcock's Marnie and he and Audrey Hepburn were magical in Robin and Marian. I even saw Darby O'Gill and the Little People. He was also the perfect choice for the voice of the dragon in Dragonheart. My last exposure to him was 1998's Playing by Heart where he played Gena Rowlands' dying husband. This was an actor who never phoned it in and improved a movie just by being in it. RIP, Mr. Bond, I'm sure your shaken not stirred martini is waiting for you.

At first I was sad that an era had passed and a man I truly admired was dead.

But then I remembered a quote from an excellent television show.

“****, 33.Too soon.No, dying in your thirties is "tragic."*As is forties.*Sympathy dissipates from there.*Fifties is "such a shame."*Sixties is "too soon."*Seventies... "a good run."*And eighties is "a life well lived."*Nineties...*That's a ****in' hell of a ride.”

He wash a mensch.

He has had so many great roles.

I always seem to think of him in this one:

Farewell Sean.
