Drove through a good swath of the affected NC areas.

Hendersonville is apparently a disaster zone. Part of I-40 near the Tennessee border is gone.

Maggie Valley / Cherokee area has no mobile service. Don’t forget how to Mapquest. Also, no gas. Look up those 70’s fuel crisis photos. That was it.

Shelby area has no power, which means no traffic lights. This is also the path that all that I-40 traffic is getting diverted through to get to I-85 to head back towards I-40.

The gas shortages are a big selling point to me for an EV. Sure. No power, no charge. It would be a nice option to fall back on if you have power, but there’s no gas.

Be grateful for whatever day you have today. We forget how to close we are to all this unraveling in a blink of the eye.
