It was beauty killed the beast.
Anyone else been paying attention to the fued between Roger Ebert and Vincent Gallo that started after Ebert (among many others) thrashed Gallo's new film The Brown Bunny after it's Cannes screening?

Here is Eberts latest article. It's hilarious. Gallo goes on the offensive after 'Bunny' flop

I read that earlier. Ebert can be very tough at times, but is generally respectful. My favorite critic. Well actually, he's the only one I like at all.

Well I think Vincent Gallo has insecurities about taking criticism. I am an aspiring filmmaker myself trying to break into the business, and people have criticized my work to crap. But I wouldn't go on a talk show talking about it for so long. If your movie has made it into Cannes, you are on top of the world, and if Roger Ebert says it's the worst movie from Cannes, it it really that bad, if you have already won, so to speak?

I wonder how his career would have gone if he made "Buffalo '66" and then NOT make "The Brown Bunny"... Huge disparity between the two movies. I checked out his wikipedia page, and there's a movie called "April" (TBD), but he's said in an interview he won't release movies, and will only show them at film festivals (like his last one, "Promises Written in Water")... I wonder if he's satisfied being a real estate guy profiteer.

I haven't seen Buffalo 66, but I'm surprised Ebert gave a thumbs up to the edited down version of The Brown Bunny, as I felt that movie was very amateurishly shot and directed and it felt like a porno in some scenes, and not even a good porno, but maybe it was intentionally suppose to be that way?
