1970s Song Tournament

This was suggested by Sexy Celebrity, and it sounds like a great idea, so if there are enough people interested, it will start within the next day or two. I think we need at least eight people for this to work well, but hopefully more people will be interested in joining. I'll give people enough time to sign up and pick their song nominations.

Rules:
All nominated songs must have been released between Jan 1st, 1970 and Dec 31st, 1979. All genres are eligible, as long as the song was released within these dates. If you're not sure if a song is eligible, please ask.

I think it's safe to assume that everyone will be able to nominate at least eight songs, so you can start posting your nominations as soon as you join the tournament. Please keep your nominations in one post. You can edit your nominations up until the time the nominations close, but please make a new post to let everyone know that your nominations have changed.

Any song is allowed as long as you can provide a link to it. Everyone uses YouTube, but you can also link from Grooveshark and those types of sites if you prefer, as long as they don't require anyone to sign up for the site to listen to the song.

To be fair to everyone, you must listen to both songs to vote. You must vote from the beginning of the tournament to continue voting throughout the tournament. Unless a tie-breaking vote is requested, anyone who hasn't voted consistently will not be allowed to vote in the final rounds.

This is my first tournament, so I may be unintentionally leaving something out, so if you have any questions, please ask.

And most importantly, everyone should HAVE FUN!!

Don't forget to change "www.youtube.com" to "m.youtube.com" when you're linking your songs.

Thank you to everyone who's joining. I'm glad to see that people are interested in this.

I've been looking at randomizer sites and random.org looks good. Unless anyone has a better suggestion, I'm going to use that site to randomize the songs.

My Song Nominations: (I'll add links in a little while)
America - A Horse with No Name
Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle
Billy Joel - Piano Man
Harry Chapin - Cat's in the Cradle
Glen Campbell - Rhinestone Cowboy
Eagles - Hotel California
M - Pop Muzik
The Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down to Georgia

Kinda coming in from nowhere, but I'm so down.
A word of warning. These tournaments are vicious.

Vicious as in people will be very critical of selections or vicious as in people will try to game the songs?

Neither of which should be problematic, I'm very frank with my own opinion, and I'm honestly just gonna nom songs I love, not ones I'll think will win.

Unless you mean vicious as in, I should be careful opening my mail for the next few months...

Let the night air cool you off

Vicious as in, if I see you in the streets......

The first one. Watch out for Miss Vicky. Unless you nominate Fleetwood Mac or Tom Petty, she will hate your taste in music.

Also, don't forget that JJ and I have the best taste in music on the site and you'll probably hate everything we nominate. Just keep that in mind okay?

Oh, no, no. I'm probably the most vicious and I don't do that.

I do curses.

Let the night air cool you off
I almost nominated this song, I love it, but I don't think it would fare well in this type of competition and I don't really wanna see it bounced early.

also, run-on sentences.
