Hey, I need recommendations for Indian movies.
I dont want musicals! Preforably DRAMA.

Indian movies I love:
1. The Cloud Capped Star
2. Sholay
3. Salaam Bombay!
4. The Name Of A River
5. Apu Trilogy

That's pretty much all Ive seen from India...

In the Beginning...

There's a very good semi-recent film called The Namesake (2006), directed by Mira Nair and starring Kal Penn and Irrfan.

It's about a young American-born son of Indian immigrants who wants to fit in with his fellow New Yorkers, despite his family's unwillingness to let go of their traditional ways. It's a "getting to know your roots" film and I like it a lot.
