Inspired by the Country music contest, dedicated to Country music for its ability to be lyrical, wistful, wry, sweet, witty and profound at the same time all within a pretty, catchy melody.

"A good year for the roses" may be seen as an ironic lament, a metaphorical contrast, in relation to a break-up, but it also appears to be literal in that this year's roses weren't needed to be clipped and given due to the dissolution of the marriage.
