"Alexander" and "Alexander the Great"

Hmm, so I've noticed that Oliver Stone is making "Alexander" with Colin Farrel and Anthony Hopkins. Meanwhile, Baz Luhrman is making "Alexander the Great" with Leo DiCaprio and Nicole Kidman which is set to be released a year later.

I think it's crazy that the studios didn't think about this. Reminds me of when Deep Impact came out right after Armageddon, or when Jakob the Liar came out after Life is Beautiful. Both of those films failed, not only because they sucked, but because people had already seen them.

I can't imagine people will be thrilled to see Alexander the Great, a year after Alexander hits the screens. Does anyone think this was a big mistake or is it really just not going to matter?

How about Tombstone and Wyatt Earp?

I agree. I don't know what will happen when the second one comes out but on the bright side, atleast the best and most deserving one hits theaters first.

Both Studios were thinking of a same idea, and my guess would be that Luhrman's movie is going to be better...since he is better than Stone. Besides, Leo DiCAprio and Nicole Kidman are both awesome actors, far better than Angelina Jolie and Collin Farrel are.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Personally, I think Scorcese's film looks like a joke. I don't think there's anyone more qualified to write this picture than Oliver Stone (that is if he doesn't fill it with propaganda) for numerous reasons. And remember gents' it's not the actors that are the most responsible for making a movie great, it's the screenplay. Not only that but I think Leo is the biggest fraud of an actor and Nicole Kidman's only good for certain things (The others). I'm not saying that Colin Farel's a huge star or Angelina is a fine fine actress. All I'm arguing really is I think Oliver Stone is a better writer and is more qualified to write the movie than Baz Luhrman who has let me down numerous times. As a matter of fact, I can't think of a field that Luhrman fits in nicely. And don't forget that Val Kilmer and the awesome Anthony Hopkins will be in Oliver Stone's so beware if you want to talk who's got the better cast. But like all rational people, I'm not going to pass judgement on either film really until I see both of them, criticize them separately, then give my verdict why one was better than the other. I'll write a huge thing on it. It would be my pleasure to because I like the Late Great Alexander more than I like any of the people making any of the movies or are in them ha ha ha. So I feel whichever is better, great but I'm leaning more towards Olive Stone's. Oh by the way, did you guys know there are close to ten different Alexander movies being made right now? One being a documentary and another being a porno! Ha ha ha. That killed me to read. But seriously, almost ten different ones being made.

True but they were nothing alike. Dante's peak was sadly better than that waste of money "Volcano". Dante's peak was a great movie in my eyes.
