Tron Legacy Official Trailer and Pics

Originally entitled TR2N (a.k.a Tron 2), Tron: Legacy was presented at this years San Diego Comic Con as the very first major presentation. Below you will find the trailer, concept art and photos from the comic-con.

Official Synopsis- Tron: Legacy is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Wanted 2 Starts Shooting Soon, But Who is Coming Back?

The one-and-only Timur Bekmambetov has showed up a few panels during Comic-Con this week, and therefore some exciting updates on Wanted 2 have arrived. First off, SuperHeroHype reported that Mark Millar said the script was completed and they're starting shooting in eight weeks, though they later found out that this meant they were just going into pre-production in eight weeks. We already know that James McAvoy is back as Wesley Gibson, but in case there was any hesitation, Timur confirmed during the panel for Shane Acker's 9 today that he is back and and that they're preparing to shoot in the next few months.

Without spoiling too much, though, Timur did mention something else interesting during that panel. He said that they're trying to "wake up" Fox, the character that Angelina Jolie played, and that she might return (but isn't confirmed yet). I'm sure Universal wants her back - I would argue she was one of the big names that made it such a success in the end. But how could she come back if she died, though? Well, Timur says that she ended up in one of those healing wax baths - so maybe she didn't die? This is good news for fans of Wanted, as it looks like we could see this next summer. We'll keep you updated on Jolie's return as well!

Michael Keaton Confirmed for Toy Story 3

Director Lee Unkrich confirmed the rumors that Michael Keaton will voice Ken in Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar's Toy Story 3 at the San Diego Comic-Con today.

John Lasseter said that "For 'Toy Story 3' we have the entire voice cast return. Barbie is back and in a much larger roll alongside Ken."

He added that "it's a totally different emotional core that this movie has. We're really excited for it."

The third installment hits theaters in Disney Digital 3-D on June 18, 2010.

Gary Oldman Says Next ‘Batman’ Starts Shooting Next Year

Word coming out of Comic Con is that Gary Oldman made the blockbuster announcement at the ‘Book of Eli’ panel that the next film in the ‘Batman’ franchise will begin lensing as early as next year.

"I think the next Batman is next year. We start shooting next year. You didn’t hear that from me."

Oldman’s announcement came after a fan asked when the follow-up to ‘The Dark Knight’ might be expected. This calls to mind the news that came months ago when Michael Caine claimed the film was going forward. Of course, there is nothing to say Christopher Nolan might come out tomorrow and say Oldman was just appeasing the mass audience on hand in San Diego.

While this bit of news could become nothing more than whispers of a rumor, you can’t ignore when someone like Oldman who is tied to the franchise begins talking about it. Those on hand claim Oldman was not joking in any way.

Ryan Reynolds is The Green Lantern

Variety has reported Ryan Reynolds has landed the coveted role of “Green Lantern,” getting the starring role in Warner Bros.' live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.

Martin Campbell will direct. The studio is still working on the picture’s budget, but production is expected to begin in January, Variety continued

The news caps off a memorable summer for Reynolds, who played Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” a performance that prompted Fox to begin development on a spinoff film. Reynolds followed that by starring opposite Sandra Bullock in the romantic comedy “The Proposal,” which crossed the $100 million mark this week.

Warners and Campbell chose Reynolds, who vied for the superhero role along with “The Hangover” star Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto. The momentum built for Reynolds in the last week, as he was the only actor whose option was extended.

Greg Berlanti wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Donald DeLine will produce with Berlanti. Reynolds’ reps at UTA are working out his deal.

The actor will next star in “Buried,” a dark indie drama that will begin filming shortly in Barcelona with Spanish director Rodrigo Cortes. Reynolds will play a civilian contractor who is kidnapped in Iraq and awakes in a coffin, struggling against time to coordinate a rescue even though he doesn’t know where he’s buried in the desert.

Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake, Chris Pine and Shawn Roberts all tried out for the role.

Reynolds told Entertainment Weekly magazine "There are so many intersting comic book characters out there. I would love to do others". Given the fact he just signed on yetto do another superhero franchise...Wolverine: Deadpool.

The Green Lantern hits theaters June 17, 2011

Wow, that's a long list of sequels/remakes/reimagines. Far too many if you ask me. And do they really have to do ANOTHER Resident Evil film from the same producers and team??? I was hoping somebody else would pick up that franchise. If Campcon had any sense they'd tell Paul Anderson to leave the franchise alone and bring in somebody else, because it has become a joke how much they've battered it.

Shocked that there is a sequel to Tron. Thought that was just rumour mill.

Producers Promise a Dark Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie

From their beginnings as a comic, through the years of video games and cartoons, various iterations of movies, and the amazing toy lines that have been produced, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have always had a soft spot in many people's hearts. This year at Comic-Con marks the 25th anniversary of the TMNT, and the progression towards what fans really want in a new Turtles movie appears to be on the horizon.

Producers Scott Mednick and Galen Walker were on hand to answer a few questions about the new film, currently scheduled for a release sometime in 2011. "I love the Turtles. They have a special quality, the key is that we want to make the greatest Turtle movie ever," stated Walker, a response that was echoed by co-producer Mednick moments later. There is clearly a goal for TMNT, but what exactly is it? "In the world we live in today, in the golden age of superhero movies, we need to get back to where this all started."

...They were all very adamant about getting back to what the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in '90 did. "The interesting thing about TMNT was the combination of action and humor, and Steve Barron (director from the first Turtles movie) added one thing, heart. We want and need to go back to that. Let's make sure we don't dishonor what has been before, and let's create something new," added Mednick.

With these ideas in mind, the fans still wanted to know one thing - will TMNT follow the same path that other darker superhero movies have been going in the last few years. "Our point of view is this: go back and look at the original Turtles comics. They are very dark. The audience is much more sophisticated than they were in 1990. This is 2009. Take the new Harry Potter for example. It is rated PG and it's still a very dark film. We are headed that direction," Galen said. The fans cheered to this response, and there were smiles all around. For as little as we got today, it's obvious that there is a very bright light at the end of this tunnel.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura Talks Transformers 3

IGN recently sat down with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to discuss just what's to come of Transformers 3 and, as expected, he didn't reveal a whole lot since they're still stuffing their pockets with the box office earnings. Even still, Transformers 3 is coming whether you like it or not - it's just a question of when.

Bonaventura said that he'd "love to see [Michael Bay] back" and that he "couldn't imagine Transformers without him." But it seems that it's all up in the air right now. Bonaventura says that "the timing is the big question for him, not whether he is going to do it not." Well, of course. Why wouldn't he do it? Did I mention it's made over three-quarters of a billion dollars?! As to what we might see in the next installment, Bonaventura expressed some reservation when asked about the inclusion of the fan-favorite Transformer, Unicron. "Unicron worries me because it's so big that it dwarves emotion. It's so hard because when you're working to that scale, it sort of becomes outside any kind of human reality you have. That one scares me… it becomes sort of impersonal when it gets to that scale."

Resident Evil Gets an Afterlife

MTV Movies Blog reports that the live-action portion of the "Resident Evil" series would be getting a fourth installment, "Afterlife," which is set to begin shooting in September. Dread Central, which broke the older news, now brings word that Paul W.S. Anderson will return to the director's chair.

In case you're new to the series or simply unaware, Anderson wrote and produced all three preceding "Resident Evil" films. He also directed the first one, in 2002. The Anderson confirmation comes by way of Production Weekly's Twitter page<&callback=load_tweet">/a>. But wait! There's more!

Shock Till You Drop sat down with Anderson at San Diego Comic-Con, scoring some additional information about the "Resident Evil" plans. In short, "Afterlife" will be released in 3-D and is intended to kick off an entirely new trilogy! Not just any old 3-D either; Anderson confirmed that they'll be using James Cameron's "Avatar" cameras. Commence your Neo "whoa"s now.

The word for now is that series star Milla Jovovich will reprise her role as Alice in "Afterlife." Some characters will return while others will be all-new, some imported from the video games (Sheva?). "Resident Evil: Afterlife" is currently planned for a September 17, 2010 release.

Jeepers Creepers 3 Readies Preproduction

First and foremost, the script is done and the sequel is preparing to enter preproduction. The story will have a prologue set in the Old West that details how the Creeper became a terrifying part of Native American folklore and then jumps ahead to the ending of Jeepers Creepers II on the eve of a brand new 23rd spring.

“I will say,” Salva told the mag, “that one aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner [again played by Gina Philips from the original film], who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother. Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all.”

Jonathan Breck will be back under the makeup as the titular beast again, and of course Ray Wise will reprise his role from the second film. Salva promises that JC 3 “brings back all the classic ideas of the first film, but brings them horrifyingly full circle. It also revisits characters from both, lets us learn more about what the Creeper is and, by popular demand, reintroduces the infamous Creeper truck.”

Entitled Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral, the new sequel directed by Victor Salva will be a direct to DVD feature film. Release date is yet to be announced.

Interesting list to say the least. There are quite a few in there that I'm interested in. Several that just make me say "Why?" and a few that just shouldn't be.

I had read not more than a couple of months ago that Disney had dumped all Chronicles of Narnia sequels. I guess not.

Walden wasn't all that happy with the way Disney handled it all. The studio behind the new films is 20th Century Fox....or Fox Walden to be precise. You can read what exactly happened with Disney and Narnia here.

Welcome to the human race...
That synopsis for Tron: Legacy sounds wrong, though - it says that Kevin Flynn has been stuck in the computer world for 25 years when it's pretty clearly shown that by the end of the original film that he's managed to get out. Some "official synopsis" if they can't get the narrative of the original, right. Unless they're planning on retconning it somehow, which just seems a little ridiculous at best.
