Avatar crosses the $1 billion mark!!

I liked the film, was a good time. Thought provoking? Nope not really, but fun NTL. But when it comes to movies I am easy.

I don't think he's made enough films for the casual film goer to think he's the best.

He is talented and I've loved every film he has made, so you can call me a fan.

Whoa... I know kung-fu!
How many 3-D theatres are outside of North America? What about IMAX? Just wondering.
I wasn't able to get a number of how many theatres have 3D capabilities, but according to an article that I read "at least 65% of its (Avatar's) overseas boxoffice and nearly 80% of its domestic earnings derive from 3D venues."

You can read the article here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...ad593649?imw=Y

Crazy seems to have just spread like a fire

I really would have like to have seen Dark Knight have 3-D ticket sales. It wouldn't have beaten Avatar, but it would have been a tough competitor.

This is horrible news, though. I doubt producers will be looking at the quality of movie content now, since just prettiness makes the numbers.

In fact, I just blogged about it today: http://tinyurl.com/oldmovietech

How does that make it any different to how it was before?

I felt there was a few good movies that were getting noticed with the numbers they were raking in. Dark Knight, for example. It was going to change things.

But The Dark Knight didn't open up the market for good films. Sure, it made so much money because it was good, but that film was making money anyway. Even Batman & Robin made money.

No wonder that it reach this land mark. It is obvious. I think no movies in 2010 will be near to "AVATAR" regarding box office success. It is a mile stone in the Holly wood box office history.

I am quite sure if TITANIC made in 3D it would cross $1 billion .

Titanic will be converted over to 3D. Whether or not it can remake the 600 million to cross that threshold is another story.

$2,729,654,833 nearly 3 billion i dont think titanic can do that in 3d.

Remember that Titanic already has nearly $2b in the bank. I don't know whether it'll do it either, but then, I don't care. I just thought I'd point that out.
