Dara Ó Briain is probably my favourite. Also love Ed Byrne, Frankie Boyle, Kevin Bridges, Rhod Gilbert, Billy Connolly, Dylan Moran the drunker the better, Steve Hughes, Tommy Tiernan, oh wow....need to add a few Americans in here.

Dylan Moran the drunker the better,
I like Dylan Moran but I thought Monster was his high point. I loved the bit where he said that you don't see young people any more, you see "youths – like they're described in police radio reports; texting each other cause they've given up on speech, like crickets at night; next to a bin full of burning grannies".

Plus I'm a big Black Books fan and I saw Moran and Bill Bailey's stand-up via that. I watched the whole series again about a year ago and it occurred to me that Dylan Moran is a really good actor.

I haven't seen much of Bill Bailey's stand-up. I should catch up, as I like him when I on QI and other shows. Dylan Moran I just like, in that I could listen to him rant for hours. About whatever. I wonder what kind of neighbour he is.

Mark Robert Bailey is excellent live

How did they get "Bill" out of that?

"Name's Mark. It's pronounced Bill."

Part Troll was very funny. I haven't seen a lot of the more recent ones.

Besides the three I mentioned previously, I also like Bill Burr, Dick Gregory, Dave Chappelle, Doug Stanhope, Mitch Hedberg, Dov Davidoff, Louis C.K.

I agree with a number of those already listed but I just have to recommend Robin Williams and Bob Newhart for those who haven't heard their comedy albums.
Ironically, I saw Bob Newhart live in Atlantic City when I was 15! There was some issue with me getting in to the show since it was in a casino and I was under age, but somehow my aunt got me in!
The interesting thing with Newhart was that he and Don Rickles were best friends, but their on stage personas were the opposite of real life - in real life, Rickles was the sweetheart and Newhart was the abrasive one - which Newhart displayed in his stand-up routine!
One of the best stand-up shows I've ever seen.

Hi! My favourite stand-up comedian is Dave Chappelle and he is also an actor, writer and producer. I adore watching his comedy on relationships issues, social problems and current breaking news. He really knows how to grab the attention of his audiences and interact with the current problems in the society.

Too many to name but here's a few off the top of my head
( some I' ve been lucky enough to see in person):

Richard Pryor

George Carlin (and thanks to @Gideon for posting that hilarious quote from the hippy dippy weatherman: re: forecast for tonight- dark! )

Roseanne Barr

Joy Behar

Robert Klein

Jackie Mason non pc-
along with the
equally non pc Lisa Lampenelli

Dick Gregory

Jerry Seinfeld

Norm MacDonald

Susie Essman

Although they were known more as talk show hosts, I have to include, for their 30+ years each of brilliant and hilarious nightly monologues- that no one else can match:
Johnny Carson. and
David Letternan

And finally - a man, alas gone now, who I've only recently discovered but is now imho the VERY BEST stand up I've ever watched:
John Pinette. You don't have to count calories to love this guy. Wonderful!!

Don Rickles and Norm MacDonald.

Every time I'm on YouTube I end up on clips of Don Rickles roasting Scorsese or some other famous person. I just never get tired of seeing that pitbull go wild. The Letterman and Carson interviews are classics as well. Mr. Warmth coming out to La Virgen De La Macarena gives me goosebumps. The documentary on him is very good, so is his books full of old Las Vegas stories.
I admire MacDonald as well, but he's a different kind. The Weekend Updates and his Conan visits are wonderful. His Netflix special is really good too. But start with the moth joke.

My very favorites are Bill Maher and George Carling, they don't necessarily make me laugh, I just love the wisdom in what they say and I admire their style of delivering their ideas

I agree, and I'd add Dara O'Briain, Jim Jefferies, Bill Hicks, Keith Lowell Jensen, Ricky Gervais, Doug Stanhope, Eddie Izzard, Dave Foley, Patton Oswalt, Dave Allen, Robin Ince, and Tim Minchin (although he's as much musician as comedian).

Actually, they all make me laugh.

As a comedy nerd who loves both these guys; I absolutely adore both of them interacting in this from Dirty Work. It’s one of my all time guilty pleasures.

As far as my favorites go, Patton Oswalt really got me into the craft when I was younger, so his records are always spinning for me. The way he’s able to look inward is amazing. Creative Depression always got me.

Mike Birbiglia is my go-to favorite, I love how his albums reward multiple listens with numerous callbacks. The Missile being one of my favorites.

John Mulaney’s stuff is always great and very accessible. I took MJ to go see his new special when he came to town and “Street Smarts!” was an absolute riot. I couldnt find it n YouTube, but here he is pretty much laying it out.

Eugene Mirman is awesome if you’re into completely 100% absurdity. I don’t know if he still does, but I know he use to officiate weddings at his shows. Sorry for awful quality on that.

I could go on and on but these guys are the most I have in my rotation.

His "Sky Cake" bit is my hands-down favorite.

Now I have to check all of these guys out
you reminded me of Ricky Gervais he's definitely one of the best stand up guys out there
