The Rodent Casts: Ghostbusters 3

Tools

The Ghostbusters we never had.

Well, here goes... I did this kind of thing before with Predator, Street Fighter, Justice League etc... and @Captain Steel got me thinking with his Casting Convertible Thread.

Ghostbusters 3.
So... going on what Aykroyd said the 3rd film would be about, it'd be based around an alternate dimension, encroaching on ours, and bringing all sorts of ethereal creatures into our world for the Ghostbusters to, well, bust.

I'd definitely draw upon the cartoon sequel that was made in the late 1990s called Extreme Ghostbusters.
They had multicultural characters, and even a character in a chair, that had specifically designed equipment.
Egon was the leader/mentor for the new cast, but in this case, it'd haveto be Ray and Winston, considering Bill Murray (Pete Venkman) doesn't want anything to do with a 3rd GB movie.

Peter and Egon have died. Maybe a disease like cancer, or a heart attack.
Could possibly have them both killed in an incident involving busting ghosts, and have the film actually start with their joint funeral.

Dan Aykroyd as Ray Stantz.
Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore
Both acting a mentors to the new group.
Interesting side-fact about Winston that was never explored, but was a written backstory... is that he was an ex-marine... capable of handling specific and specialised equipment.
The ex-marine character would also be good for the rest of the newbies when the **** hits the fan.

And Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett.

The rest...............

......... are to follow.......

Well, to get started...

The human bad guy.
The first film had William Atherton as the slimy EPA Agent, who almost causes the apocalypse by shutting down the Ghostbusters' Storage Unit.
The second film, had Kurt Fuller as the NYC Mayor's sleazy butt-sniffing P.A who locks the Ghostbusters in an asylum under the Mental Health Act.

I'd have Topher Grace.

A government/military employee obsessed with how these ghostly occurrences can be solved with brute force, who has also stolen some of the Ghostbusters' trademark designs and has made weapons of his own, that are totally useless in terms of a cure... that then actually cause the rift between the dimensions and open a gateway between worlds.

Grace can carry funny.
And he can carry slimy.
Look at Spider-Man 3 and Predators and his comedic side in That 70s Show. Given his age as well, the dude would be perfect against a younger cast of Ghostbusters.

Alex Brooker as Garrett Miller
English comedian.
Alex was born with a deformity, that meant he had to have his leg, and most of both hands/arms removed at birth.
Man, this guy is funny... and given the right script, can be so much more.
I'd have Alex in a chair, though Alex in real life uses a prosthetic leg, and I'd have him using specialised ghostbusting equipment.
Just like the character Garrett Miller in Extreme Ghostbusters he's an ex-sports star, physically strong and able, and also strong and overly confident in mentality due to his sports background, and never letting his wheelchair define him.

Michael Peņa as Edwardo Rivera
Slightly older than the other cast members, he'd be the more mature brains of the outfit when they're out on their own without the backup of Ray and Winston.

The Hispanic character of "Eduardo Rivera" in Extreme Ghostbusters was reliable, but was seemingly lazy and overly cocky.
But... I'd twist the character, because Peņa carries an old soul, makes him perfect for a leader. I'd still have the cockiness, but only when needed.
Peņa also exudes intelligence and mental strength which would be perfect for a parapsychologist style character, and... he can be really funny at times too.

Emma Stone as Kylie Griffin
Kylie Griffin in Extreme Ghostbusters was a Goth character.
I'd tone that back a bit. Maybe have black hair and some tattoos, but not totally Goth. Maybe a Rock Chick more than anything.

Emma though, carries both bold and beautiful in bucketloads.
She can also be tough like a Rock Chick.
And just like Kylie in Extreme Ghostbusters, she can carry the vulnerable side of things. Kylie in EG, acts tough, maybe brainless at times, but lives alone with a cat and feels lonely... yet she's also extremely intelligent. Stone can do that sort of character.

More to come............

Jesse Williams as Roland Zeddemore

The original character in Extreme Ghostbusters was Roland "Jackson". I'd have him as Winston's Son instead.
He's the mechanic and electrician of the group, highly tuned to mechanical and electronic devices, and can be the "sparky" of the group. He even designs Garrett Miller's specialist equipment.
Tough, street-smart, has a military history through his Father Winston.

Jesse, like Peņa, carries an old soul and extreme intelligence.
He also has a toughness and a groundedness that is lacking in younger actors.
Smart, tough, and the actor can carry humour... and I'd have him as a scientist type who learned about Ghostbusters tech from Egon before Egon died. It'd make him a cornerstone of the Ghostbusters.

More to come.......................

Nothing will top the first ghostbusters feel of the 80s, it s just an amazing adventure

That's an intriguing cast. I can see Topher Grace as the villain. A key to the movie's success would be it being really funny and exciting. I saw Michael Pena in "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and thought he was hilarious.

I forgot to post the final cast member
Last one then:

Paul Dano as Oscar Barrett-Venkman
Yep... gotta have Oscar. Little baby Oscar from Ghostbusters 2, all grown up, using a double barrelled surname from his Mother Dana, and his adopted Father Peter.
Need a strong actor for this role.

I'd have Oscar as part of the plotline when it comes to parapsychology.
His dealing with Vigo The Carpathian back in 1989, has left him with an ability to sense spirits, much to the fascination of Ray Stantz.
Ray would also help him develop his talents, and he becomes key to defeating the various nasties that come through the dimensional portal... he's also able to sense that Topher Grace's character ^^, isn't all he seems to be (plot twist!).
