Ok, just to clarify this, I was not embarassed by my list of movies that I put down, I enjoy my tastes in movies very much, regardless of what people think. The only reason I took it down is because after number twenty or so I just started naming some movies that came off the top of my head, and they weren't in any particular order. And I didnt want to have a top 100 list up there if I felt it wasn't my correct top 100 list. If you'd like to see my favorite movies I have my post up on the "Top 10 List" thread. Also, if you could, please keep your comments to yourself if you don't have a mature response. I think it is very rude to put down someone for their beliefs or opinions, I did not find it nice, I wouldn't put down your list regardless of what I thought of the movies. So next time if you could keep the comments to your self please. And for the others who were nice about it, thank you for respecting my opinion.

100 movies is too much. I don't even think I have 100 favorite movies. But in my opinion, some of the great ones are:

The Godfather I & II
Most Tarantino flicks
Snatch and Lock Stock...
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie
The John Hughes flicks
The Star Wars films
Evil Dead I, II, Army of Darkness
Romero's Dead Trilogy
RoboCop
Conan The Barbarian
Ghostbusters
Casino and Goodfella's
L.A Confidential
Rocky I-IV
Fight Club
Requiem for a Dream
Usual Suspects
Blow
Gladiator
Stanley Kubrick classics: Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Strangelove, Shinnin.
Saving Meg Ryan
Nerd of the Rings
Black Hawk Down
We Were Soldiers

fu*k there's too many!!!

yeah, you need to broaden your horizons, man, like say, how about a top fifty that's all anime, followed by a bottom half of various non-animated japanese films? heh, just kidding, i think your list stacks up just fine.

What first got you started with your Japanese fixation?
fixation? naw....i wouldnt quite call it a fixation, only about 30 japanese films made my list . seriously, i'm affraid the answer is kind of boring...if i had to pinpoint a start, it was probably akira, back when i was young and impressionable, followed closely by various kurosawa films.

Why would you have movies in your 100 favorite films if you haven't seen them? Also what does the, "Seenz" at the beginning of your posts signify?

BlOoD sHeD

LordSlaytan

Out of your list I'd say these's were the only films I really dislike The Return of the Jedi, Braveheart, Rocky, There's Something About Mary. Mary for me has no repeat quailtiy and was seriously bad on the second viewing very little of the humor work. Jedi is fluffy and doesn't even come close to the first 2. Braveheart makes a hero out of someone in history that wasn't. It's also lopsided in it's views and opinions. Rocky in just plain trifle. Raging Bull destorys this film.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way and out of my system there tons and tons of intresting and magnificent films in your list.
The Outsiders while not nearly my favorite Coppola it's still a solid flick. L.A. Confidential intresting what do you think of Wonder Boys i'm defaintly a Hanson supporter and major fan of the man. John Boorman's Excailbur & Deliverance are amazing films I'm a huge huge love of the man's canon.

A for the guy who posted.

hey, i had no idea boorman directed excalibur, slayton. and here i was thinking he didnt have a decent film to his name besides deliverance and point blank.

You should check out The Emerald Forrest, Hope and Glory Hell in the Pacific etc, etc, etc.

Steve McQueen is one of my favorites and Papillon is upper there with the greats. What do you think of Schaffner Patton. The Matrix I'll take Dark City any day it's way better. Driving Miss Daisy, is there anything else of the director that you like. Lord of the Flies a good film but the Original is amazing. I love all the Lean's you mentioned but my favorite as of right now isn't there Oliver Twist if you haven't seen it, check it out. Quite a few Spileberg in you list what's your thoughts on 1941. I have The Messenger on DVD but haven't put it on so far. Any comments would be awesome also do you like Leon, Le Dernier Combat, Subway & The Big Blue. The Begin of Aliens is terrible after the get out of there sleep it picks up thou and is pretty good.

Forrest Gump there's so many Zemericks I put before this film to name a few Contact, Who Frammed Roger Rabbit & Back to the Future part I & II. The Thing Carpenter's revamping of the original is magnificent. Right now this is my favorite Carpenter. Army of Darkness what do you think of the first 2. [i]Love to know about these films any comments would be much obligied Dead End & We're No Angels. Is it safe........Marathon Man love it. Serpico is one heck of a cop film one of thee best what do you think of other Lumet's. A Clockwork Orange if i'm wrong tell me but, this is the only Kubrick to make your list. what do you think of his filmography.

It's a good film Bonnie and Clyde but I can't say i'm a huge fan. The Days of Wine and Roses amazing did I say amazing. hhhmmm, The Grapes of Wrath great film but there's quite a few other Ford's I love more. Platoon I'm really off and on with this film. Everytime I see it again my opinion changes for being great to good. Affliction wow, I thought I maybe the only person that digs this film. Some Reco's Blue Collar, American Gigolo, Light Sleeper, Light of Day & Cat People. Bringing Out the Dead I love this film but it seems to get a lot of bad critism. The Deer Hunter uncredible I love love Cimino check out [Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Heaven's Gate & Year of the Dragon I also really like Desperate hours & The Sicilian. Hamlet I think Branagh's version is way better but this film is pretty good.

I would be very interested in why you think that…

LBJ...

The Return of the Jedi is my least favorite of the original trilogy, but I am loathe to leave it out. I still wanna be Hans when I grow up. Braveheart is one of my favorites regardless of the fact that there is really very little real documentation on William Wallace. If you think about it, there is very little documentation on Joan of Arc also, but The Messenger still made it on to my top 100 list. Braveheart is the ipitomy of the epic battle movie, my favorite. Not to mention, Mel Gibson has been a favorite since I saw Gallipoli, The Year of Living Dangerously, and The Bounty. Rocky is there because it was one of the first movies I got to see in the theater, and I was so excited, I almost wet myself. I was, after all, only eight years old. It will always be a special movie to me, but none of the sequels will. There's Something About Mary may not have a lot of replay value, because it is after all, a shock movie. But what a shock first run, it is funny as hell, and I feel good about listing it. The Outsiders was one of my first favorites, it came out when I was a teen and I could relate well to Dallas. I made my list to be a history of my favorite movies, and not just a current 100, hence Rocky and others of it's ilk.

Now that I'm done answering your critiques, I can move on to your questions. Wonder Boys is a great flick, but it didn't even shape into my memory while making my list. The Emerald Forrest, Hope and Glory, and Hell in the Pacific are all good films, but alas, the list could not go to 103. Unfortunately I did not remember Patton while making my list, because I would have added it. I think Scott's portrayal was one of the finest acting performances in the history of cinema. Dark City is another movie I should have added to the list, because it is easily one of the greatest sci-fi's ever created. Yet, in defense of The Matrix, it made my list first off, because it kicked ass! Secondly, because of the ground breaking camera work, and thirdly, because it was the first sci-fi to come out in a long time that had any thought to it. I couldn't ignore the fact that there were so many people who just couldn't grasp the content, that IMO makes it a good movie. Crimes of the Heart and Paradise Road are the other two movies I like a lot from Bruce Beresford. Lord of the Flies, the remake, was a very good film, I have yet to see the original. Maybe when I do, I'll revise the list. I have seen Oliver Twist , but I didn't love it as much as the other three Lean movies I chose, I didn't hate it though. 1941, good movie, but great? Not in my opinion, sorry. As far as The Messenger, it got a lot of moderate to poor reviews. But I like Milla Jovovich, and she really chomped at the bit for this part, and was incredible. Absolutely wonderful, that girl can act. That's why I love it. Léon made my list, I think you must have missed it. I haven't seen Le Dernier Combat, Subway, or The Big Blue, so I cannot comment. Aliens is the first real hardcore action sci-fi that I can remember being blown away by, so it made my list. I put no other Zemeckis film before Forrest Gump, no way. Well maybe Used Cars. The remake of The Thing is Carpenter's best work. Period. Army of Darkness is my favorite of the trilogy, but Evil Dead II is pretty good campy fun too. I'm not as much a fan of the first one as I used to be. Bruce Campbell rocks, I wish he got more roles. Dead End and We're No Angels are my two favorite Bogart flicks. In the first one he plays a gangster who comes back to the neighborhood he grew up in. It's really more of a Joel McCrea movie though. In the second, Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, and Aldo Ray, play three convicts who escape Devil's Island and wind up in a small town. They want to steal some clothes and other things, but wind up being drawn into the inhabitants of the town. It's the best comedy he ever starred in, at least I think so. Dog Day Afternoon, Network, and The Verdict are the other Sydney Lumet films I like, but not enough to add to the list. I think maybe I made a mistake with Dog Day Afternoon though, I really do love that movie. As far as Kubrick's filmography, I should have added 2001 and Dr. Strangelove, 100 just isn't big enough. I had another Ford film on my list which is actually my favorite of his, it is How Green Was My Valley. I have seen Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Heaven's Gate and Year of the Dragon, my favorite of these three being Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. I have not seen either Desperate hours or The Sicilian. I had heard neither were good. Plus I usually avoid Christopher Lambert movies, I don't like him, with the exception of Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan (Guilty Pleasure). And last, but certainly, not least, I like Mel's version of Hamlet because he needed to prove he was more than a lethal weapon, and he succeeded.

Satisfied? ~whew~

Braveheart is the ipitomy of the epic battle movie

Way Way Better Epic to name a few:
Spartacus, Seven Samurai, Lawerance of Arabia

and thirdly, because it was the first sci-fi to come out in a long time that had any thought to it. I couldn't ignore the fact that there were so many people who just couldn't grasp the content, that IMO makes it a good movie.

Off the cuff some great Sci-fi's to come out in the 90's:
Cube
Pi (Aronofsky, 1998)
The City of Lost Children (Jeunet & Caro, 1995)
Sphere

1941, good movie, but great? Not in my opinion, sorry.

I don't know why people dislike his film for me it defaintly one of my favorite Spielberg's

I put no other Zemeckis film before Forrest Gump, no way. Well maybe Used Cars.

Used Cars rocks, It's a misunderstood comedy for sure.

Army of Darkness is my favorite of the trilogy, but Evil Dead II is pretty good campy fun too. I'm not as much a fan of the first one as I used to be. Bruce Campbell rocks, I wish he got more roles.

I dig Bruce and his big chin and for me Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn is better. The dark slapstick humor with tons of atmosphere and the hammy up by Bruce plus it campy camp look, great photography and camera work. Which ending do you like more in Army of Darkness.

I have not seen either Desperate hours or The Sicilian. I had heard neither were good.

Yeah I doubt too many people do like these films, but I do.

Thanks for the response.

I didn't say I disliked it, I do like it. But there are so many more Spielberg movies I love. He's my favorite director, even though it seems to be the "in" thing to dis' his work.
