Thursday Next's Avatar
I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
I can't remember who recommended this, but I watched Die Brucke (The Bridge) (1959), a film about a group of young schoolboys who are drafted into the army at the end of WWII and sent to defend a bridge. I thought it was really excellent and I would definitely recommend it.

Care for some gopher?
I recommended it - glad you enjoyed it!

2022 Mofo Fantasy Football Champ
Am I the only person watching some 50s films for the upcoming Countdown?
I need to watch more. Being in the fifties HOF will help. Even if I didn't though, a top 25 is easy for me since its my favorite decade other than the 2000s.

Yup, there's a lot of choice 50s films in the Hof. I really need to knock off a few more of those. Well hopefully soon I'll get back to it. I love the 50s! 40s and 30s too, those are my fav decades for films.

You can't make a rainbow without a little rain.
Neither heard of either of those, I see they're Film Noir I will try to check them out.

I hadn't heard of either of them before I watched them, but they were on TV, and they sounded good, so I watched them. I liked both movies.

I looked to see what else has already been mentioned and I may be wrong, but I don't think I saw any mention of The Band Wagon, Pillow Talk, or Bus Stop.

Testing Mofo's new custom lists, here are my favorite 1950's movies (almost in order, still editing) but the top 30 titles are highly recommended.

Wow, now that was a bump. I had totally forgotten about this thread...So anyways I just looked at your 1950s list, some good stuff on there! Though I hate your 1st choice but everyone else loves that movie. Overall a very solid list and I see there's some movies there that I still need to watch

I'll go with The Day the Earth Stood Still, Sunset Boulevard, The African Queen, Moby Dick, Ben Hur and The Forbidden Planet for starters, but it WAS a long decade with lots of movies, so this seems like a list that could go on and on.
