Damn shame
Requiescat in pace Yaphet!

That's a shame.
I was a fan.

R.I.P. I loved everything he did, especially his work as Captain Giardello in Homicide: Life on the Street. The scripts he wrote for the show weren't half bad either.

I really enjoyed his work on Homicide: Life on the Street series (1993-2000). TBH I can't recall any of his movie characters. No cause of death was listed on Wikipedia.

Always a guy you like to see show up in a movie. A good sense of humor too.

Fantastic actor...loved him in Midnight Run, Blue Collar, and on Homicide: Life on the Street...very sad, RIP

R.I.P Yaphet.

As a child it felt like he was in almost every other 70's film I watched. Looking back at mark and Holden's posts, he very well might've been.

Wow. Loved this guy. He had such a unique voice, a commanding presence, and nobody wore a pair of dark shades as stylishly as he did. 5 Card Stud was the first thing I ever saw him in and he stood out immediately for me, especially with his final scene in that. If you've seen it, you know what I mean. Alien, of course his role goes without saying as great. Live and Let Die---I loved him as Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big. But Homicide: Life on the Street was far and away my favorite role of his, playing Giardello, the Chief of the homicide squad. Watched it religiously.

So glad we can revisit him on DVD, cable, and streaming, what have you. Godspeed, Yaphet!
