RIP Rutger Hauer

Very sad to see this news yesterday. Such an interesting presence always.

Rutger made a cameo appearance as naval commander Maarten Tromp in the opening battle of Admiral, which stars Frank Lammers as Michiel de Ruyter, the Dutch naval officer who almost took down an overpowering British army in the 17th Century. The film was directed by Roel Reine, who is more known for his straight to DVD films in Hollywood.

So sad to hear of his passing. Anything I ever saw him in, I loved his role. He gave his all. The first thing I ever saw him in was Nighthawks and when I hear his name, it's the first film I think of. But there were so many...so many. Godspeed, Rutger!
