Movies you couldn't even finish.

1776 and Casinos. They were both boring as hell!

No, I know what loner means.

I finished it, but I kinda wish I didn't. Preposterous stupidness, IMO.

And that it's Kubrick's final direction seems really sad to me. Out with a fizzle.
I found Eyes Wide Shut captivating and very mesmerizing. It sucked me in. Those long lingering wide shots that Kubrick is famous for, the suspense, Tom Cruise going through a nightmarish journey through a bizarre New York City underworld... I just love the damn movie

⬆️ Me too. One of my favorites.

Oh, there's no doubt that I'm in the minority. It's a 75% on the RT critics tomatometer, and they tend to be harsher than many places, so by far most clearly loved it. Or at least thought they did (I suspect there were some of that "most" who would have been enamored with anything stamped with Kubrick on the can).

But I'm not alone. In fact, this reviewer (from CNN) put it perfectly IMO. I couldn't have said it better:
But can anybody in her or his right mind take this seriously? At least Fellini pulled out the stops from the first minute when he wanted to get surreal. Here, realism fades into surrealism, then into outright foolishness. Morbidly paced foolishness.

But everyone's different.

When women have a poet, they want a cowboy.
When they have a cowboy, they want a poet.
They'll say "I don't care if he's a poet or cowboy, so long as he's a nice guy. But oh, I'm so attracted to that bad guy over there."
Understand this last part, and you'll get them all.

What CNN thought of the movie to my mind is irrelevant. I loved it; seen it several times &, no doubt, will watch it again.

I did finish it, but I can definitely understand not being able to get through Lucy.
Was that entire movie really based on that 10% of the brain myth?

Yeah, I'm afraid so...the movie turns off the viewer immediately because it's set on foreign soil and a lot of characters don't speak English and a somewhat interesting premise gets buried by a lot of fancy CGI effects.

I just did a hopping here and there through the thing and I while didn't see a lot of fancy CGI effects per se, it definitely seems to try and pace itself a little like Eraserhead or something. Actually, that's not quite right either.....it reminds me of something I can't put my finger on that I wasn't overjoyed with either. Not my kind of artsy-fartsy scene progression.

Legend in my own mind
I did finish it, but I can definitely understand not being able to get through Lucy.
It started off strong but then just grew more and more absurd.

Love Lucy, seen it three times, couldn't remember characters not speaking English and I was able to get past the 10% brain thing as it does actually represent something true in the film and is just one line.

Do you know what a roller pigeon is, Barney? They climb high and fast, then roll over and fall just as fast toward the earth. There are shallow rollers and deep rollers. You can’t breed two deep rollers, or their young will roll all the way down, hit, and die. Officer Starling is a deep roller, Barney. We should hope one of her parents was not.
