I think the most efficient way of keeping up with the forum is to click New Posts at the top of the site, which will show you every new thread that's been updated since your last visit.
Other forums I frequented often had sub-forums or threads that actively sort of bothered me ("The Porn Thread", "The NSFW Thread", "Boobies!", etc) and I've gotten in the habit of cloistering myself to a handful of threads in a single forum.
I'll give the New Posts approach a whirl. I wouldn't want to deprive you all of my deep thoughts on such important topics as reality television and SPORTS! (Spoiler: I have no deep thoughts about sports).
