Ya, because they only had swords in medieval times, back in the days of castles and knights and because LotR was set in medieval times It's middle earth, not medieval earth...

anyways, besides those not mentioned above, mine would be: Gladiator, monty python and the holy grail (black Knight ftw), ending scene of Rob Roy, Kill Bill, Mask Of Zorro, and The Princess Bride,

Henry V
The Count of Monte Cristo
The Man in the Iron Mask

Welcome to the human race...
I'm going to put in a word for Highlander - that counts as a "sword movie", right?

(this is despite the conclusions that my friend and I have come to that the swordplay in Highlander is actually fairly poor, but what can you do)

I agree, this was a classic of classics in Sword films. I loved the faux bald heads in the movie!

How about Pirates of the Caribbean? they all have sword fighting. I also just watched in the name of king. its has lots of Sword fighing in it. I think shaiknight had some swrod fighting in it. I also the old he-man movie master of the univsers has sword fighiting in it.

Forbidden Kingdom has to be mentioned I know it is new and has only a few swords in it but the fighting in this movie is second to none.

There's this scene in Once Upon A Time in China with swords that was pretty good.
