Female assassin extraordinaire.

I changed it to "Beats the House." Thanks for the idea. I had to write the review in a real hurry for the most part, so I ended up just throwing up the first title that came into my head that did not suck profusely. Don't beat yourself up about writing one -- you know it's all good.

We're discussing Julia Robert's HAIR now? Will it ever end?!
I like to get caught in Traffic; the film at least...
I prefer curly hair Julia Roberts; it suits her better.

Coupla questions re. Ocean's 11:

First, though -- we loved it. Theatre was nice and full but not jammed, so we had a good crowd for reactions, etc.

Also, how come no one mentioned the irreplaceable CARL REINER as Sol? Geez, how could you not mention him? He's a living legend!

Here's the question (and TWT couldn't answer this, and told me to ask it here to see if anyone noticed)

POTENTIAL SPOILER HERE -- NOT THE MOVIE'S ENDING, BUT SOME KEY PLOT DEVELOPMENTS....

WARNING: "Oceans Eleven" spoilers below

HOW did they get all those porn flyers INTO the vault in the first place? Remember that the security guards carried out what they THOUGHT was half the vault cash and put it into the white van ... but that once the van blew it we saw that the bags really had all the flyers in them and no cash.

How did the flyers get INTO the vault (and, for that matter, the black duffel bags with the X's, too) in the first place? Who brought them in? Not the Chinese guy. Not Brad and George. Who??

Remember that the bags had to be heavy and full enough to convince those guards that they were carrying bags filled with $80 million in cash!

VERY confused...
Linda

Austruck, what is the question you are trying to ask? I just see a blank after your spoiler heading...

The Adventure Starts Here!
TWT,

Should I delete my previous post with the spoiler right in it? Honestly, I had no clue that now you have to highlight spoiler text to get it to show up. Is there some place, some way you can MUCH MORE prominently display that info to let us know? Also, I saw no way to get that spoiler box while I was typing the post. Is there something I'm missing?

Even more confused,
Linda

You have to use the spoilers tag, thusly (curly braces in place of brackets):

{spoilers=Movie Name}The dog is the killer.{/spoilers}

You can't use apostrohes in the movie name, though...I dunno if I can fix that bug, either. I do plan to, however, add a link or button to automatically highlight the spoilers...we'll see if I can get that done. I deleted the post for you, BTW.

Hmmm...keep in mind I was very, very tired when I saw the movie. I've been tired for at least 2 months now but that's another story.

Well, I hope I might be right here:

Well, I don't know how to do the fancy highlight spoiler thing, so if you haven't seen the movie don't read further

WARNING: "Oceans Eleven" spoilers below
Anyway, remember "Ocean's 11 crew" built an actual replica of the Bellagio vault? Also remember near the end when Andy Garcia was looking at his vault floor and asking his main manager about the word "Bellagio" on the vault floor? Clicking a bit now? This is if I understand your question correctly.

Well, with the replica vault they videotaped footage of themselves pulling off the heist, which they then used to broadcast, emulating a live heist, when in fact it was not. So those black covers with the "x" on them were never in the vault and etc, etc...

Hope this makes sense, and I can explain further if you have questions. To be honest, personally, I just got into the movie and was just really hoping Clooney would gank Garcia's lady, Tess, or J. Roberts. I'm a sucker for smooth lines delivered to women while proactively demonstrating the words. Reminds me of me It's that whole "sweep and charm" the women off their feet thing that keeps me going at times... hehe

The Adventure Starts Here!
Sigh, more spoilers. (Are we getting sick of highlighting everything in this thread? Can't we just say the whole thing is a spoiler from here on??)

WARNING: "Oceans11" spoilers below

No, this had to have actually happened at some point. I do remember the fake tape, etc., BUT ... at some point casino security carried bags out of the casino and actually loaded them into that white van (the one that was being moved by remote control).

When the robbers blew up the van and the cops stormed it, they found nothing but the flyers.

Plus, Andy Garcia found flyers on the actual real floor when he finally made it down into the vault.

Now, how did all those flyers and duffels make it into the vault in the first place? They had to be heavy enough with flyers that the casino guards that carried them out would think there was $80 million in them.

Is the question clearer? I honestly think this was totally overlooked in the script.

TWT, thanks for fixing the posts for us. I understand what you explained about how to create a spoiler box, but honestly, unless it's right here where I am now in the Reply Window, I won't remember it.

You need to have the instructions here in the "Post Reply" dialog box area.

First off, thanks Commish, for the edit - I got it now.

You know what, Austruck?

WARNING: "Oceans Eleven" spoilers below

they did the scenes so fast - you know when Pitt was instructing over his cell phone as to what he wanted - that it was difficult to tell. B/c as Pitt was instructing, you just see these guys loading the fake bags of $$ into the van, and then Garcia later tells his men to follow the van. I was under the assumption that the guys who put the money into the van were a part of the 'heist,' because the men following the van w/ the camera were his 'real' men, while the snipets they showed of the men loading the fake $$ bags was so quick. It just seemed all so, as Pitt was instructing and the scenes were changing, and especially so when they came in as the SWAT.

maybe someone else can chime in...

WARNING: "Oceans11" spoilers below

Well, makes sense except that none of the security guards that they were showing were any of the 11 we'd already seen. And there was no indication that they had taken on any new members so late in the game.

(sigh) If only my husband hadn't noticed this! Now it's driving me nuts! LOL!

Thanks, t.o.t. You're right, though, that the scenes where Pitt is talking into the cell phone interspersed with what's happening did get a bit chaotic and hard to follow. Was something really happening, or were those scenes just depicting what Pitt was proposing to Garcia?

Confusing.

Anyone else got a clue about this (so it doesn't drive me nuts all day)?

Linda

Yes, I'll be adding instructions soon enough...hopefully I'll be able to add an automatic selection link first. TOT! That's a great nickname...I hope it sticks. Oh, you may want to use the spoilers tag two posts up...it gives a fair bit away.

Here's what I think.

WARNING: "Oceans Eleven" spoilers below
Are you sure it was casino security, and not the SWAT team? If it was the SWAT team, it all makes a lot more sense: they had them in the right place, so they grabbed them and loaded them up. Heaviness wasn't an issue, either, because it was just bags full of money, as opposed to bags full of flyers. I don't think the flyers were ever in the vault.

The Adventure Starts Here!
Let me try this spoilers box. (This whole thread is going to be invisible at this point!)....Here goes:

WARNING: "Oceans11" spoilers below

Yes, it was security. SWAT team came later and had faces covered. That was a bunch of scenes later when the SWAT team carried bags out of the vault. The security guards were sooner, while Pitt was on the phone, and their faces were not covered, and they were not any of the original 11 thieves.

And yes, there were flyers in the vault. Remember toward the end where Andy Garcia is finally down in the vault surveying the damage and sees all the flyers scattered all over the floor? So, at some point they did make it down there.

Any other thoughts?? Still stumped here....

Linda

The Adventure Starts Here!
Yes, I figured that out while you were editing it. I was thinking HTML stuff, sorry.

(And I would have had it edited immediately, but the phone rang!)

sorry I couldn't reply swiftly yesterday - I was just pretty busy at work, then had to go straight to Irvine in 405 traffic where there was a high speed chase and shotguns were pulled right in front of me, as the cops tried to apprehend some dude in an SUV; thought I'd tell ya

As to the Commish, I don't know if my name will stick... Some people here may not feel funny addressing me at tot , but thanks for the props.

Now, Austruck, hmmm.... I give up, that's all...

Kidding.

WARNING: "Oceans Eleven" spoilers below

I agree with the Commish in that it probably was the SWAT - that's what I was assuming after the movie. Ocean's team had so many insiders that later on got introduced that it wouldn't be flawed reasoning to think otherwise. Keep in mind again that I was muy cansado (tired) when I was watching this surprisingly good movie. there was no way they could've brought in anything into the vault prior, unless Sodo decided to skip those scenes completely (which would make no sense). The only thing in the vault before Clooney and Damon was the Chinese acrobat and the brief case Carl (Saul) had. This was a one-time thing, planned accordingly, meaning this was their 1st time in the vault, and they were "finding" their way through the Bellagio via blueprints, 3-D imaging and reports made by insiders. It was impossible for them to be in there at a prior time, so anything put in afterwards was SWAT or related - has to be. Clooney, Damon and the Chinese acrobat brought in practically nothing with them, and it took a (I forgot what it was called) huge detonation just to short Vegas out long enough to get Clooney and Damon anywhere near the vault.

I'm quite certain now that Pitt was just narrating events as he spoke to Garcia -- it was cool to see Garcia getting screwed badly wasn't it? Btw, I knew Clooney and Pitt were not going to trust Damon instinctively, as I wouldn't have either with his initial responses and feedback. So that whole 'act' Clooney and pitt put on was great! It's time I made a movie with Julia Roberts, and after making love to her, laying down the line a la Clooney, "I told you I knew what I was doing," and then being hauled off by the police, which would definitely happen b/c my chances with her are that slim

Is it Friday yet?
