Favourite composer?

I'd have to say Danny Elfman. He's everywhere these days. I have even seen his name in The Simpsons.

CLINT MANSELL.
The scores in The Fountain and Requiem for a Dream are too incredible for words.

I like Elfman but there are at least three composers who I find much more enjoyable and consistent. Hal Hartley composes the music for his movies as well as writing and directing them, and he does all three really well. Philip Glass is also pretty good and you will probably like his stuff. My favorite has to be Michael Nyman though. Check out his work for Peter Greenaway's films, especially for A Zed & Two Noughts. Even if you don't get into the movie, the music by itself is fantastic. Some other great scores he worked on are The Piano, Wonderland, The Claim and Ravenous. He's also done plenty of great non-film albums, particularly The Kiss.

Here are some favorite songs of mine, and the albums they are from:

Song I: And Do They Do/Zoo Caprices
Time Lapse: A Zed & Two Noughts
Prawn Watching: A Zed & Two Noughts
L'escargota: A Zed & Two Noughts
Delft Walz: A Zed & Two Noughts
Swan Rot: A Zed & Two Noughts
Vermeer's Wife: A Zed & Two Noughts
Wedding Tango: Drowning By Numbers
Wheelbarrow Walk: Drowning By Numbers
Sheep and Tides: Drowning By Numbers
Come Unto These Yellow Sands: Prospero's Books
Prospero's Magic: Prospero's Books
History of Sycorax: Prospero's Books
Miranda: Prospero's Books
An Eye For Optical Theory: The Draughtsman's Contract
Bravura in the Face of Grief: The Draughtsman's Contract
A Watery Death: The Draughtsman's Contract
Images Were Introduced: The Kiss
Nose-List Song: The Kiss
The Kiss: The Kiss
Water Dances: Synchronising: The Kiss
Memorial: The Cook the Thief His Wife and Her Lover
For John Cage: Time Will Pronounce
Self Laudatory-Hymn of Inanna and Her Omnipotence: Time Will Pronounce
