Movie Forums Top 100 of the 2010s - Preliminary Thread

After doing several decade countdowns which covered every decade in cinema (except the 2020s, of course, but we still have several more years to go before we start that one), we will now be doing the Movie Forums' Top 100 of the 2010s. So sit back, get your popcorn ready, and start assembling your ballots!

COUNTDOWN RULES
  • Submit your ranked list of twenty five titles from best to worst using our nifty ballot tool (see below).
  • Films will be awarded points as follows: 25 points for 1st place, 24 points for 2nd place, 23 for 3rd place and so on, with one point being given to your 25th placed film.
  • If you submit less than 25 films, then points will be redistributed accordingly. For example, if you submit 10 films, your top film will receive 10 points, then 9 points for your 2nd placed film, 8 for your 3rd placed film, and so on, with one point being given to your 10th placed film. Your ballot needs to include at least 10 films for it to be accepted.
  • If you're new to this forum, please wait until you've been a member here for one month before submitting a ballot. Certain cases will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
  • Films that are part of a series or trilogy (Star Wars: Episodes VII to IX, John Wick, etc.) must be submitted as separate films.
  • In order for a film to be eligible for this list, its release year needs to be listed as between 2010-2019 on IMDb.
  • Do NOT reveal your ballot! Anyone who reveals their submitted list before the countdown has ended will be disqualified.
  • The deadline to submit your ballot is December 12, 2022. That gives you three months to prepare your ballot and watch/rewatch as many films from the 2010s you're able to. Three months may seem like a lot of time, but believe me; it'll fly by much faster than you think, so try not to wait till the last second to submit your ballot.

In order to submit your ballot, use the ballot submission link posted below:

https://www.movieforums.com/ballot.php

HOW TO USE IT
  • Type the name of the movie you want to include and select it from the drop-down list.
  • If the movie doesn't appear, you can click the link on the upper right corner ("movie you want not showing up") and copy and paste the movie's IMDb or TMDb URL.
  • Be sure to double check the names and dates of the films on your ballot before submitting it. This is to avoid any mistakes which may pop up. Remember that there can be several films with the same title (this is especially true with foreign films).
  • As stated up above, there should be a minimum of ten entries per ballot.
  • You will receive a copy of your list via PM after you submit it.
  • All ballots are final, so make sure everything is set before submitting.

In case you encounter any issues with the ballot submission tool, let either Yoda or I know and we'll help you out.

Aside from the release dates of all films being required to be listed as 2010-2019 on IMDb, here are a few more eligibility rules:
  • There are bound to be some edge cases (limited releases, foreign releases, etc.) which can be brought forward in the thread and discussed accordingly.
  • Television series and mini-series are NOT eligible.
  • Other eligibility questions can be politely discussed in this thread. Ultimately though, the curator's decision is final.

NOTE: Since there's no recommendation thread for this countdown, feel free to post recommendations in this thread. I'll be doing that as well, in fact.

So, with all that being said, start watching/rewatching films from the 2010s, assemble your ballots, be sure to respect the opinions and tastes of others in this thread, and may the best 2010s film win!

Thanks for hosting this Speling, I'm sure you'll do an absolutley spifing job!

Also, since I have access to the results as they come in, I'll try to submit my ballot fairly early.
My line for the last couple was that getting to have slightly more influence over marginal results is the thank-you that myself and the list Host/Curator get for doing the work. So feel free to wait and vote a tiny bit more strategically if you like.

Hm, I suppose that works as well.

The test ballot I submitted will likely be similar to my final ballot though.

Ah yes, the 2010s. The only countdown where it's entirely possible for my ballot to contain a Paul Thomas Anderson movie, a Wes Anderson movie, and/or a Woody Allen movie.

Hell yes! Finally we are rolling!

And with a flawless fella at the helm who will indeed do well though he is sporting an unlucky username, which he will hopefully not live up to when compiling the final list.

Jk, I’m sure this will be great and I can’t wait to compile what will probably be my most difficult list yet… Being born in the mid 90s and thereby having most of my childhood watchings in the 00s and most of my growing cinephile watchings in the 2010s, it’s most certainly going to be a tough list to put together for me.

Just off the top of my head I have several picks I want on my list so I’m very excited for how it’s all going to turn out - both for me and the final list.

Hopefully I’ll have time for some rewatches as well as some new watches.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
Finally, a countdown thread where I can put Slow Torture Puke Chamber as my one-pointer.

Look, I'm not judging you - after all, I'm posting here myself, but maybe, just maybe, if you spent less time here and more time watching films, maybe, and I stress, maybe your taste would be of some value. Just a thought, ya know.

My big brain move is putting it 25th on my ballot, too, to deny you the satisfaction.

Obviously, I won't put that film as my 25th. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said it out loud. So, the thought that wanting to outsmart me, you'd end up claiming Slow Torture Puke Chamber as your one-pointer is hilarious! Sorry, but you can't beat my genius.

Sorry if I'm rude but I'm right
(We will for the purposes of this play-fight forget, for now, that I can see the ballots as they come in.)
Hey, that's cheating! But sending my ballot at the last minute should do the trick. I have lots of sick titles up my sleeve.
