It's not easy being King especially when you want to be a righteous one. Quite a down to earth portrayal of the story. Expected to hate it but I loved it. Joel Edgerton is great here and so is the rest of the supporting cast.

PAULINE AT THE BEACH 1983 ‘Pauline à la plage’ Éric Rohmer

1h 35m | Comedy | Drama | Romance
Writer: Éric Rohmer
Cast: Amanda Langlet, Arielle Dombasle, Pascal Greggory, Féodor Atkine, Simon de La Brosse

Lovely, intelligent, thought-provoking character piece. Complicated romantic and sexual entanglements between six very different characters. Set against the backdrop of beautiful small beach town scenery in Normandy, France. Should have watched this when I was 15 or something. Not as sensual or powerful as Jean Becker’s One Deadly Summer but still very good within the very specific sub-genre of eighties 'tales of European summer love' films.

Hating on Michael Bay is so 2007. Flaws here and there, yes. But overall this film has a lot of cool stuff going for it; sound, camera, light, action, Eiza González, Gyllenhaal, Sailing by Christopher Cross, Cruz from Santa Barbara.
Speed '94 lovers will probably love this film as well.

Added to my All Time Action and All Time Heist films lists top 50.
