My Favorite Jane Fonda Performances

Gloria Beatty, They Shoot Horses, Don't They?



Don't get me wrong...I loved Maggie Smith in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie but Fonda was just devastating in this scorching drama as a contestant in a dance marathon who, for some reason, absolutely MUST win. This actress has done a lot of amazing work over the years, but she has never completely riveted me to the screen the way she did here. I get chills just thinking about this performance.

A drunken actress wakes up next to a dead body? Seriously? Fonda deserves better than that. The story just wasn't worthy of the actress.

I thought it was plausible. Showed the extent of her alcoholism. Same thing happens in the recent show The Night Of.

We need to agree to disagree about this and move on with our lives.
