Of those in the poll, The Joshua Tree.

But really my favorites would be Tom Petty's Southern Accents (and all other Petty albums released that decade), Traveling Wilburys Volume 1, and Lindsey Buckingham's Go Insane.

Beyond that, most of the 80s music I listen to are cheesy pop hits from people nobody really cares about anymore like Men Without Hats, Rockwell, Berlin and the like.

...And Justice For All, by Metallica

Moving Pictures, by Rush

A Kind Of Magic, by Queen

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Some Smiths, Pixies, Replacements, R.E.M. or Prince album. I'm not a big Michael Jackson fan but surprised he's not included.

How are these the only options? The better records are outside the "Me" culture

The Cure -Disintegration
David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
Fields of the Nephilim - Elizium
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Arvo Part - Tabula Rasa
Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
Peter Gabriel - 1
Rush - Permanent Waves
Steve Reich - Different Trains/Electric Counterpoint
Killing Joke - Night Time
Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Dün - Eros

Plenty of 80s metal here was also the catalyst for the 90s metal innovations.

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Possessed - Seven Churches
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath
Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion
Candlemass - Nightfall
Kreator - Extreme Aggression
Atheist - Piece of Time

Of those listed, I chose Bruce Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A.

The Madonna album cannot compete with an album that uses Bruce Springsteen's ass for the cover:

Of those on offer, it's Madonna's Like A Virgin, which I remember buying.

However, my own best of the 80's is pretty easy.

Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction. One of, if not the, best rock album of all-time.

I had a copy of Like a Virgin on cassette tape. Same with Born in the U.S.A. and several others, too.

Guaporense, if you are Planet News, I must say -- this is a very good direction for you. A good move. To be this Brazilian character. I would be impressed.

Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal
Coil - Horse Rotorvator
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Astor Piazzolla - Tango: Zero Hour
Depeche Mode - Black Celebration
Cocteau Twins - Treasure

\m/ Fade To Black \m/
There seems to be some Metallica missing from your list

Yeah, Pixies released Doolittle in the 80's. REM were at their best, Dinosaur Jr were kiking about. Micahel Jackson, Prince, Public Enemy, The Cure. This list is more glaring omissions than anything else.

Good whiskey make jackrabbit slap de bear.
None in the poll. I would much rather listen to any of these:

Aerosmith - Pump
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
The Cure - Disintegration
Van Halen - 5150
Black Flag - Damaged
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

Three completely different genres, but I like them equally much:

The Cure - Disintegration (1989)

Favorite Song: Lullaby

Alphaville - Forever Young (1984)

Favorite Song: Sounds Like a Melody

Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast (1982)

Favorite Song: Hallowed Be Thy Name

I grew up on these albums. They are still lying on top of my radio player.
