Identifying a film

If anyone recognizes this film from the scene description, I'd love to find out what it was. It was something I saw when I was little.

Black and white, period/fantasy. A woman is asleep and on the table beside her is a music box. Something inside the box starts to grow and becomes a monster. This may have been followed by the hero fighting the monster in some kind of castle or a more open structure.

Hi, thanks for replying. No, I'm sure this was quite an old film, perhaps Twenties or Thirties, maybe a kind of Thief of Baghdad-type story, but not in colour.
