Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Found City Lights on youtube so now able to vote in this tie:

1. City Lights vs. 16. Brokeback Mountain

I did really like City Lights, actually, for all I really don't like slapstick or physical comedy all that much, it was quite funny in places; but I'm still backing Brokeback.

We were once tied, but City Lights is ahead 9-7. At least I'm fairly certain on that.

I love both Brokeback Mountain and City Lights... but have to go with Chaplin's best film. The ending is heartbreaking and a scathing commentary on how money and appearance influence people... no doubt it fit into CHaplin's own socialistic ideaology.

I show City Lights in my Language Arts II class when talking about mime, and non-verbal communication.

All About Eve vs. 15. Lawrence of Arabia

jesus, LoA was boring as sh*t. how is my Bette Davis losing to this?
Because Lawrence of Arabia isn't boring at all.

Actually it's weird, I have the exact opposite opinion. I never really got why All About Eve was seen as so great.

In complete agreement with you and I think I have a high tolerance to boring things.
