The "I'll never hear that song the same way again" Movie Game

Tools

Have you ever watched a movie, heard a familiar song on the soundtrack, and been either amused or disturbed by the context in which that song was used? Well, the history of cinema is rife with examples of this phenomenon, and I think it's high time somebody made a game out of it!

Here's how we play: First I'll post a song, like:

Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan

And then the next person has to guess the movie in which that song is rather unforgettably used (and perhaps post the scene in which it appears)...

Oh, I was gonna say it was the horror movie Jeepers Creepers, so I'd be wrong.

The Day of the Locust

For me, this mainly applies for classical music:

Apocalypse Now - Ride of the Valkyries - Richard Wagner

Come and See (skip to 4:27) - Lacrimosa - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Death in Venice - Adagietto - Gustav Mahler

2001: A Space Odyssey - The Blue Danube - Johann Strauss

Platoon - Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber
