Pre-1930 Countdown

Almost famous for having nailed Madonna once

  1. Pearl Jam - Footsteps
  2. Culture Reverse - Our Eyes Squint Sadly
  3. Golden Earring - Radar Love
  4. Neil Diamond - Be
  5. Bones UK - Pretty Waste
  6. Loudness - Let it Go
  7. Nogizaka46 - Sekkachi na Katatsumuri
  8. OutKast - Rosa Parks
  9. Seremonia - Itsemurhaaja II
  10. Two Tribes - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
  11. Bad Meets Evil - Raw

My R6 nom:
Filthy Boy - That Life

1) Seremonia - Itsemurhaaja II
Great occult/depressive rock from Finland. I love the lyrics and 70s feel to it.

2) Neil Diamond - Be
It's a beautiful song despite my dislike towards religions. I don't even remember if I've read the book (I know we used to have it when I was a kid).

3) Culture Reverse - Our Eyes Squint Sadly
I kinda like this sort of thing, at least occasionally. This one's a tad too simplistic, though (I doubt you'd even have to really know how to play to manage the instruments here). Maybe they're too depressed to be interested in improving their skills?

4) Pearl Jam - Footsteps
Sounds like a mix of country and their usual grunge. This man and guitar style is not my favorite, but the song is still decent and like their singer.

5) Loudness - Let it Go
I don't know exactly why, but Loudness has always felt soulless to me. There's nothing technically wrong but it lacks something. On this round, it's still enough for a quite high place.

6) Bones UK - Pretty Waste
The best thing in this is the lovely British accent in the chorus.

7) Golden Earring - Radar Love
Not exactly the way I want my rock'n'roll. And on top of that, it's way too long with the instrumental break in the middle.

8) Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes
Frankie goes political (maybe they always are, I haven't really listened to them). Lacks most of the good things in 80s music like melody and catchy chorus.

9) Nogizaka46 - Sekkachi na Katatsumuri
I'm not really an expert but to me, this sounds like 13-in-a-dozen J/KPOP. I was bored without the video and I don't think watching the fake smiles helped either.

10) OutKast - Rosa Parks
I still hate rap. I doubt it'll ever change.

11) Bad Meets Evil - Raw
Oh god, another. I'm sure this guy f**ks without a condom but I don't give a f**k.

Round 5

1. Bones UK - Pretty Waste
(I really like this group so far. Hot chicks with a defiant, f**k-you attitude, little bit of an industrial, electronic sound mixed with blistering guitars. Sexy and dangerous.)

2. Loudness - Let it Go
(Fairly generic hair metal, but might as well be Van Halen at their peak compared to the other songs in this round so far.)

3. Seremonia - Itsemurhaaja II
(I seem to be more in love with the aesthetic of occult rock than the actual music, although I still enjoy listening to it on occasion. This sounds wicked enough to be decent. I especially liked those heavy chords when they first kick in.)

4. Outkast - Rosa Parks
(With Andre 3000's eccentricities and Big Boi's laidback drawl, Outkast was one of the few rap groups I didn't mind listening to when growing up. However, I think we should criminally prosecute anyone who tries to resurrect the slang term "crunk.")

5. Golden Earring - Radar Love
(Works better as a driving song than a random listen on the laptop.)

6. Pearl Jam - Footsteps
(Nothing against Pearl Jam. They've just never done it for me personally. Blame it on Vedder's tendency to use 30-seconds to enunciate a three-letter word.)

7. Bad Meets Evil - Raw
(Em's goofy verses somewhat redeem an otherwise terrible song.)

8. Frankie Goes Hollywood - Two Tribes
(At least the video was entertaining with all those groin attacks.)

9. Neil Diamond - Be
(My ears just puked.)

10. Nogizaka46 - Sekkachi na Katatsumuri
(Too long, too repetitive, too cutesy. If not for the hot Japanese chicks in the video, this would've been insufferable.)

11. Culture Reverse - Our Eyes Squint Sadly
(Amateur hour. Sounds like it was produced by someone without any talent in the bedroom of their parents' house.)

This has been a great tournament so far, but this round was the pits. Songs I ranked dead last in previous rounds would've been near the top of this one.
