The Cinema Taste Test!

It was beauty killed the beast.
So, here is how the game will work. Kong will post a list of 20 films, and you folks guess wether or not you think Kong liked or disliked the film. Kong will then come back tomorrow and give the answers. Whoever gets the most correct answers will take over and make their own list of twenty films for people to guess at.

Hopefully this game will catch on. It should be interesting, and will help us learn everyone else's tastes in film.

Here's the list:

The French Connection
The Recruit
Kids
Shanghai Knights
Hard Eight
Welcome to the Dollhouse
The Thing
The Apostle
The Spanish Prisoner
Speed
Jurassic Park
The Hours
Ghosts of Mississippi
Independence Day
The Insider
The Great Mouse Detective
A Few Good Men
Ali
Ghost World
Moulin Rouge

Answer "D" if you think Kong disliked it, and "L" if you think that Kong did like it.

Whoever is closest goes next.

Kong will post the answers soon.

Okay, okay.

These were the right answers:

The French Connection D (Ha! Everyone got it wrong!)
The Recruit L (A Very guilty pleasure.)
Kids D
Shanghai Knights D
Hard Eight L
Welcome to the Dollhouse L
The Thing D
The Apostle L
The Spanish Prisoner D
Speed L
Jurassic Park L
The Hours L
Ghosts of Mississippi D
Independence Day D
The Insider L
The Great Mouse Detective D
A Few Good Men D
Ali D
Ghost World L
Moulin Rouge L

The scores were:

LordSlaytan = 12
Aniko = 11
Piddzilla = 12
Hondo333 = 13
Beale the Rippe = 13
moviefan 20 = 12

There was a tie between Hondo333 and Beale the Rippe. They both got 13 of 20 right. Kong figures that Hondo333 should go next since his post came before Beale's.

What's wrong with Speed? It's supposed to be a tense, fun ride and little more. It's not a great film by any means, but it's entertaining.

Speed is alright, but to like it and not like one of the most suspensful films in history??? I can't stop now!

The Thing just didn't do it for Kong. There are some pretty good scenes (the blood testing scene is great), but overall it was just average to Kong.

Kong should should mention that he doesn't generally like horror films.

So close.......

Oh well.

I loved a bunch that you disliked, least of which being The Great Mouse Detective, my personal favorite animated movie. But Hey! To each his own. (Again compliments Kong on the great idea for a game).

On the Thing, that was the 1982 version, correct?

And I too liked the Recruit. The first half was brilliant, (or at the very least, very enjoyable). The second half started downhill and ended with a so-so ending. I'd still give at 2.5 out of 4 though (that is for me, the minimum for a good movie that I liked, and thus a movie I consider good).

Yeah, I agree... Don't know why but I thought it had to be ten L's and ten D's - but maybe I misunderstood.
