Waiting for Baseball

I didn't know Charlie Mortons #'s the past 2 seasons were that strong?! Holy crap.
Maybe he is worth the money. Another neat tidbit - he lives in Bradenton, Florida, some city as me, and only 30 minutes from Tropicana field.

After all the talks, and all the anticipation, Bryce Harper most likely will be resigning with Washington...

...and it's a big ol' fat contract, 10 year 300 million, that's big ol' fat.

Yeah, the research about a pitcher's effectiveness diminishing each time through the order has been out there for awhile and now we're seeing the big market clubs start to make major personnel decisions based on it. Elite bullpens offer more benefit for each dollar given how expensive reliable starters are, at least for now. After a year or two of this, though, it could start going the other way.

The Kershaws and Verlanders who can remain deeply effective late in the game are still exceptionally valuable, but it's pretty hard to know who's going to be that guy, and anyone believe that tier probably isn't offering enough marginal value over the guys on the lower end of the middle range, given the relief help you could buy instead with the difference in salary.

Relief pitchers are becoming the standard more and more each year. 9 inning pitchers are scarcer than NFL teams with one RB. Hell, Tampa only has Morton, Snell. and Glasnow - 3 starters, and they're planning to rely on the bullpen going forward. I'm sure they'll call someone up to get at least 4 starters, 2 games a week for a bullpen would be too much. We just grabbed Drake from Toronto though, who knows?

Damn this is a boring offseason. I wish Machado would just sign with the Yanks and be done with it. If he chooses New York though you know Baltimore will Boo the living hell out of him.

DJ Lemahui (mispelt) just signed with the Yankees. Most likely they're gonna land Machado, and theyve spent a megaton of money rehauling their bullpen. The Yankees are gonna be scary tough next year.

DJ is the guy you get because you've decided not to get Machado, I think.
@Yoda I repped that because your logics right but could the Yankees get DJ for second base and still get Machado for third? This is New York were talking about here.

On the flip side of the MLB payroll coin.....I so hope the Ray's land Matt Davidson.

The Ray's might land Avisail Garcia. If he can stay healthy we may end up hitting better than ever before. Seriously, the guys no joke.

Pitchers and catchers reporting is right around the corner! @Holden Pike. You in this year? I can promise you its not nearly as easy as fantasy football.
