I never read that book, but one decades ago that was on the same subject. What a bunch of clowns especially that Salmon P. Chase. And that scheming daughter of his was a real bitch, even beyond the Lincoln years.

Lincoln was born in America but his ancestry was British... and since America wasn't that old at the time, he was only a few generations removed from the immigrant Lincoln...
