Hiya,
Maybe this will cause a big list of replies, maybe not. Considering how popular Manga has become. Has anyone seen Patlabour 1 and 2 ? I heard that 3 is coming out soon but that was 2 years ago.
I love both 1 and 2. Unfortunately, in the middle of the film, they see the needs to explain the state of the society and make all these 'comments and statements' about why this and that happens. I seem to find a LOT of that in manga that's based on modern day theme.
The animation are brilliant - although not in the same league as Miyazaki, but it's VERY VERY well done.
The 2nd one, the story is especially interesting and in a way, realistic.
What happen when you a place in command of an UN force and your troops and yourself is under hostile fire. You request to return fire is denies cause the 'higher' chain of command has this mentality to keep 'peace' and it's easy for THEM to refuse your request to return fire cause they are NOT the one getting creamed.
So you end up watching EVERYONE under your command getting wasted.
Well worth a look if you have not seen Patlabour and like Manga. MHO anyway.

Well Doomsday your quickly earning your way into the Deckard Hall Of Fame. Manga films are not discussed anywhere near enough for my liking. Its late so Ill just list some of the ones I own & love.(In no Order)

Ninja Scroll
Akira
Wicked City
The Cyber City Collection
Guyver parts 1-12
Crying Freeman parts 1-12
Golgo 13:The Proffesional]
Ghost In The Shell
Aarmagedon
Space Adventure Cobra
Sin
Vampire Hunter D
Rojin Z
Astro Boy,Speed Racer & Battle Of The Planets(now called Gattchaman)

So many great ones but Ill leave a few for someone else to mention. Back later to discuss all things Manga/Anime.

P.S Doomsday I dont mind Palabor 1 & 2 either but although I own them I dont tend to watch them as much as those listed above. Again damn Cool topic, lets hope other people here like truly original, breathtaking adult animation of the highest quality.

PPS I wish someone in Japan would get there hands on The Preacher & make it into the brilliantly evil & witty Manga film we know it would be!

Female assassin extraordinaire.
hey kids! and wouldn't ya know it - this here girl likes her anime too!

Now, I'm no professional. Sadly, until recently, a lot of my anime viewing was limited to what I could get in my local Hollywood Video. But, here at college, we've got an anime club and we've been getting our mitts on some cool stuff.

I actually have no idea about Palabor 1 & 2. Never heard of it ...

But ... from your list ...

Ninja Scroll - seen it, liked it
Akira - mad crazy, still can't make sense of it, but classic
Wicked City - seen it
The Cyber City Collection - not seen it
Guyver parts 1-12 - not seen it
Crying Freeman parts 1-12 - seen 1-5, cause that's what my video store had, and no more!! i want the rest!!

Golgo 13:The Proffesional - oh yes, i loved this. one of the first I saw ever, classic
Ghost In The Shell - wonderful, classic
Aarmagedon - hm, haven't seen this
Space Adventure Cobra - saw this, was a little iffy on the animation
Sin - just saw this last week, too too short, but i liked it
Vampire Hunter D - aw baby, THE FIRST i ever saw, at like, 3 am on the Sci Fi channel when I was like 12. My initiation into anime.
Rojin Z - haven't seenit
Astro Boy,Speed Racer & Battle Of The Planets(now called Gattchaman) - not into those

Lately, we've been watching:

Revolutionary Girl Utena - so weird, but love it
Gasaraki - we're on the 3rd episode and trying to make sense of things ... but i like it
Outlaw Star
Lain - oh my god, sheer brilliance, kept us in discussion for days (the plot, the symbolism, trying to make the links)
Dragonslayer - I'm not so into this, but you know ... it's passable. mildly amusing occasionally.

and, well, i've always loved Sailor Moon ... can't deny it. And Aeon Flux ... though made in America, it's creator was Japanese, and it had its roots in anime. totall love that woman, and that show. ah, joy.

wah-tooooow! I AM the hidden dragon in the crouching tiger! grrr.

I don't watch much anime, but I have friends that do. One of my friends has every manga movie on DVD. I always thought anime was just a longer cartoon, mainly because I had only seen things like Dragon Ball Z. Then one day my friend was watching Ninja Scrool, and I saw the scene in the woods in the begining, and thought a little differently of Anime. A couple months later I hadn't seen a full episode of anything. I saw a couple random episodes of Nadesco at a friends, that was about it. This weekend I got the DVD-RIP(sorry Laurie ) of Ninja Scroll, and have watched it like 4 times already.

So basically I haven't seen much anime. All I've seen is:
Ninja Scroll
Samurai X
Both Street Fighters
The Nadesco series
and Princess Mononokoe

Their some cool ones OG truly you must see most of those listed earlier escpecially Ninja Scoll, Ghost In The Shell,Akira oh hell all of em & also checkout Blackjack & all others mentioned so far, truly all of them are ahead of their time. Nothing even comes close in western animation. Wicked City has the quality of Disney plus more, so much detail in the images & depth of charecters.

.. *drums roll* .. and here enters ME.. from the Deckard Hall of Fame.! *grin*
Anyway, sorry with not being on much.. for myself a new job and been studying for OCP - a certificate much like MSCE.
Back on the ball - Ninja Scroll... LOVES IT!! Apparently.. there's a sequel to it.. but done by another company beside 'Manga' .. my brother has seen it and he said it's crap. Obviously, Japan does not have the same copy right issue as the Western cause it seems people can grab this and that from another company and make it their own.
I have not seen a few on your list.. due to the fact that my mom sometime watch what we are watching and some of the manga is pretty... hmmm.. explicit.
Akira - WILD!! Not as good as some though but I think it's so big is cause it's the first even manga that got commercialise thru screening on the big screen.
Wicked City - it's ok, not something I would watch again.
Guyver - sure make you wish you have one of them Bio-booster battle armor. *grin*
Freeman - not seen it but I have heard alot of it.
3X3 eyes - seen 1-4 (I think) and it's not that bad.. I like it.
Street Fighter - go watch the movie length manga, the series is crap.. total contradiction of the movie and the game.
Astro Boy - LOVE IT to the max!! They should consider making an Atlas series though.
StarBlazer and Robotech - still one of my ALL time fav. Don't suppose they have that out on DVD ?

I highly recommend Hayao Miyazaki's works.. VERY VERY VERY entertaining and very well done. His works are stuff that you will watch over and over and over and over again.

I would like to get my hands on the Gundam's series though cause I am a die hard mech's fan.

Long enuff - got to go check some other posting that was done in my absense. =o)
May the Manga be with you.
